The special New York Comic Con panel about the Star Wars 40th Anniversary anthology features several of the book’s 40-something writers, including moderator Pablo Hidalgo, Claudia Gray, Delilah Dawson, Jason Fry, E.K. Johnston and more.
This week brings two new books and three comics. Del Rey’s 40th Anniversary anthology From a Certain Point of View is out Tuesday, October 3. It features 40 short stories from 42 authors, all set during A New Hope. Also out Tuesday is William Shakespeare’s The Force Doth Awaken by Ian Doescher.
Fans at New York Comic Con (October 5-8) will be able to purchase a special edition of From a Certain Point of View, the publisher’s 40th Anniversary anthology. It’s their latest convention edition featuring exclusive cover art and printed end papers. (The contents are the same as the regular edition.)
I’ll be honest: I’m not really feeling much of the 40th Anniversary hullabaloo. (It’s… Okay. I guess? But aside from The Last Jedi stuff, much of it feels same-old-same-old to me.) But here are a few highlights:
→ io9 has debuted the Poe Dameron scale, the “ultimate Star Wars name-ranking system.” It made me giggle, so it must be worth your time.
→ Wired ranks Star Wars hair, a topic near and dear to my heart. Demerits for not giving the Padawan braid a solo entry, though they do at least call it “gross.” (It is.)
Last week, for Star Wars Day, we had a prize drawing for the Star Wars Notebook Collection, a set of three sweet notebooks featuring classic A New Hope artwork on the covers, graciously given to us from the good folks at Chronicle Books. The winner of our contest, randomly selected from the entries, is John Markham. He will be getting the notebook collection, released earlier this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars! Thanks to our friends at Chronicle Books and watch for more prize drawings!
Del Rey will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of A New Hope with From a Certain Point of View, a new anthology that will feature 40 stories from the viewpoints of the movie’s minor characters.
Coming in October in an oversized hardcover, the anthology will feature more than 40 authors, including both established Star Wars writers (Chuck Wendig, John Jackson Miller, Gary Whitta) and those new to the franchise (Meg Cabot, Ken Liu, Nnedi Okorafor.) All the authors are donating their proceeds to the charity First Book.
