What would it take to get John Boyega to return to Star Wars? Not streaming, he jokes to Variety: “You ain’t going to Disney Plus me!” But he says he would come back for a movie “as long as Daisy and Oscar are down for it.”
They are both less enthusiastic about the prospect: “[I’m] happy and feeling fulfilled that the task is complete,” Isaac says. “So I can’t imagine what it would be that would make me want to redo this thing or revisit it.” He’s also not very keen on taking Poe to Disney+.
Ridley says “I just don’t know if anything could top this one, honestly… it would have to be so extraordinary [to return], and I don’t know if that’s possible.”
In other words, maybe give them some time. Who knows where we’ll be in 10 years? (On the other hand, maybe Ewan McGregor should start a support group, since they’re likely going to be answering this question for the rest of their lives.)
In EW, Adam Driver on if Kylo Ren even needs redemption, and on the Rey/Kylo relationship.
“[Kylo Ren] has a different identity, a different definition of what redemption is,” Driver says. “He’s already been redeemed in his story. I don’t think there is a thought of redemption. He doesn’t have an outside lens of the events, you know — you know what I mean? That’s more of an outsider’s view of his world.”
At Collider, Abrams and Driver talks about Kylo’s focus and responsibilities to the First Order, and hints at how the reforged helmet may play into this movie.
Vanity Fair has J.J. Abrams on bringing Lando Calrissian back to the big screen, while with Variety, Billy Dee Williams talks about putting on the costume on again, what drew him to the role originally and how much of the character’s personality comes from him.
