Rumor: Say goodbye to Galaxies?

IMAGE: Hey hey hey goodbyeSurfer Girl claims that LucasArts is going to pull the plug on the venerable Galaxies to make room for the new multiplayer:

The Artistic Lucases think that they have the only IP that can pose a serious challenge World of Warcraft and find that the setting of KOTOR is too niche to be a threat. They apparently expect the new Star War MMO to have at least three million subscribers by the end of the first year.

If KOTOR is too niche how come half of fandom won’t shut up about it?

…Oh.

Really, if true, the death of Galaxies may be just as well. They are clearly a very disturbed bunch of folks!

Clone Wars news out of Germany, Samuel L. Jackson is up to voicing animated Mace

Another week, another toy convention. AICN reports from the Nuremberg Toy Fair:

Finally STAR WARS: no doubt, it has still the Force. The new action figures and Lego looked fantastic. And for us Europeans it was great to got the confirmation that CLONE WARS ANIMATED movie – the first three parts of the new tv-series – will indeed be shown in our theatres in September as well – so not only in England. That will give a huge boost to all the toys that will be released this year, guaranteeing the future of that (or any other) brand or franchise.

Nothing we haven’t heard before, but at least the reports seem to be consistent…

Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson told MTV he’s ready and willing to revisit Mace Windu for the series. Make the call, George!

Living with a Nerd

After the story of the mixed marriage on Dr. Phil got so much attention, color me intrigued by this new website found by one of the folks on DGeek.

Yes. It seems that someone has started a website about how to live with a nerd called, ironically enough, Living with a Nerd.

It’s starting out a little tech heavy. But hopefully it can live up to its promise to promote peace and understanding between nerds and the mundanes they love.

Gate Geek – They’re a-comin’ and a-goin’….

A few casting tidbits have sprung forth from Joe Mallozzi’s blog in the last few days.  We’ll go to the GateWorld summaries to save you from reading through the entire entries:

  • Tori Higginson (Elizabeth Weir) has elected not to come back in Season 5 to flesh out a certain storyline from a certain episode.  Hopefully it’s just new opportunities and not ongoing hurt feelings that are keeping her from coming back.  I’m sure the fans would welcome it should it ever come to pass again.
  • Another actress who briefly appeared in Tao of Rodney as the source of more than a few dialogue exchanges, Leela Savasta, has been cast as a new character named Alicia Vega.  (Always be nice when you’re on a set, boys and girls.  Ya just never know where it could land you.)
