Hollywood Reporter reported yesterday that Paramount was planning to premiere a new widget to spread the trailer this week… But they’re not giving any timeline for a second Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer. Teases.

Terrorism touches Tunisia
This isn’t the best time head out to Tunisia to check out Star Wars shooting locations. Two Austrian tourists were abducted from Matmata last week, and Al Qaeda is claiming responsibility. The U.S. State Department has issued a travel alert urging U.S. citizens to “exercise extreme caution.” (via)

Star Wars comic sales in February
How popular are they? Well, it looks like they do all right. Here’s their rankings from the Top 300 Comics list for last month.
Highest placed are Legacy #19 and Legacy #20 at #61 and #64: Both sold around 30,000 copies. Dark Times #9 came up at #92; Rebellion #11 is at #104 and Knights of the Old Republic #25 squeaked in at #299.
Meanwhile, three titles of interest make the list of top graphic novels for February – At #9, the first Indiana Jones Omnibus; at #23, the 30th Anniversary hardcover of Legacy; and at #57 the A New Hope photo comic. (I ask again: Why?)
Note that both lists includes only sales made through Diamond, which supplies comic stores, not book stores.
In the news: Wednesday morning reading list
The New York Post got wind of the “Deadwood meets The Sopranos” rumor, and they also report that Lucas met with cable channel executives, including HBO, last year… Though that could easily have been for The Clone Wars.
On that note, Entertainment Weekly’s Dalton Ross ponders Star Wars cartoons.
- Space: Ion thrusters propel real spacecraft.
- Fans: Georgia collector Pete Eckroat profiled by the Rome News-Tribune.
- Books: Matthew Wilhelm Kapell, an anthropologist and historian from my neck of the woods, explores the Star Wars phenomenon in his book Finding the Force of the Star Wars Franchise: Fans, Merchandise, and Critics. He’s doing a signing in Modesto today.
Deal, or no Deal: There is no try
A Bothan spy informs me that NBC shot a two-hour Star Wars-themed episode of the game show Deal or no Deal yesterday. Three guesses as to how they dressed the briefcase models, and the first two don’t count.
Air date unknown, but I would guess sometime this summer.
