Star Wars ladies gear announcement coming soon?

Steve Sansweet’s Facebook pick of the week has some hints about something that many of us have been grumbling about for a while:

Despite such occasional breakthroughs, female fans have long complained about the lack of stylish Star Wars clothing made for them—whether for young girls who have recently come to the saga through the weekly Star Wars: The Clone Wars series or the previous generation of women who have their own disposable income and want to show off their Geek Chic. For all the ladies, your wish is about to be granted in a very cool way. Stay tuned to your local Star Wars news channels for a major announcement any day now!

LFL’s current offerings are pretty varied, so I have faith they won’t make it all pink or anything. (Here’s a suggestion.)

UPDATE: Ashley Eckstein launches Her Universe, a Star Wars merchandise line for female fans.

The Clone Wars review: ‘The Zillo Beast Strikes Back’

It's the eye of the Zillo, it's the cream of the crop

When The Clone Wars started, who would have thought that it would become a non-stop homage to classic films?  This season has seen tributes to Notorious, The Longest Day, a couple of Kurosawas, Aliens, Agatha Christie mysteries, and I’m sure some others that I missed.  And of course, last week was all about Godzilla, and I fully expected this week’s installment to be more of the same (in a good way).  But Dave Filoni tipped his fedora to another movie monster instead — and unlike Peter Jackson, the Clone Wars crew did it right. Stradley addresses the future of Legacy

Seems to me that the knee-jerking over the Legacy cancellation was transfered over to the weekend’s cartoon news, but for those still panicking, Dark Horse’s Randy Stradley has come through with a statement. Yes, the book is ending, but…

No door closes without another opening, and to those longtime readers who pointed out that it was not likely that I would end Legacy without having some replacement planned, I thank you for your confidence. Trust me, it will be rewarded.

Well, I’m intrigued.

Post-ROTJ animated show? Hold your horses.

So the internet (or at least what I’ve caught in my box-surrounded haze) has been buzzing about this bit out of Sansweet’s presentation at C2E2, as reported by IGN:

During the Q&A section of the panel, a fan said, “I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia,” to which Sansweet replied, “And you will, in the new animation.”

Sansweet told the Forcecast that he’s “in the dark,” but guesses that the comedy show may be “a mix” of the different eras. Stand down, canon savants: For one, it’s too early to tell, and for another IT’S THE COMEDY SHOW. Save your dignity and keep the pearl-clutching in reserve.

As for the comedy show and the ‘Squishies’ rumor, Sansweet did imply there is a connection, but said “How it develops, we don’t know.”

The Clone Wars review: ‘The Zillo Beast!’

Did you notice that I added an exclamation point to the title?  That’s because ‘The Zillo Beast,’ while not perfect, is easy to get excited about.  It’s the first Clone Wars episode that I seriously wished I could see in a movie theater – and that’s including the theatrical pilot.  This is impressive, exciting, big-screen material, and if I was looking to get quoted, I’d call it “Monstrously Entertaining,” or “The Beast is Best,” or perhaps “A Smashingly Good Time!”  Thankfully, I’m above some trivialities.
