New wave of Star Wars fabrics rolls on

It’s heaven for fabric hunters! I just got back from Joann Fabrics and Crafts where there were loads of designs we hadn’t seen before from Eugene Fabrics.

In addition to the fabrics spotted previously, there were:

  • Three polar fleece designs in Clone Wars, Original Trilogy (in cartoon style) and a black and white Vader.
  • In Clone Wars, there were two flannels; one in blue tones and another in green.
  • A cotton of nothing but Marvel comics covers.
  • An OT ships design to complement the Clone Wars ships design released last year.
  • A black and white cotton with OT characters Vader, Yoda, Artoo, Threepio and Luke.

Sadly, it’s not showing up on their website for ordering, yet. But if you have a store near you they should be able to order it for you.

Even sadder is the complete dearth of “girly” fabric designs. Did they not like how quickly the Leia fabric disappeared the last time? And more smaller designs would be helpful for us quilters. But it’s new stuff! So, overall…Yay!

Fate of the Jedi follow-up still not more than 3 books; Scourge also Apocalypse excerpt

Del Rey’s Erich Schoeneweiss followed up his previous comment on Facebook today, announcing that a Scourge excerpt will join Mercy Kill in the back pages of Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse.

What will sooth more fan’s fears, however, is his response in the comments:

No worries folks, we’re on the record several times as saying we want to focus on 2 or 3 book series after FotJ and currently have no plans for any big nine part epics.

With the term ‘series’ being thrown around by some materials, some fans have been worried that LucasBooks and Del Rey were reconsidering earlier promises for shorter arcs.

StarWars.com to host Twitter Podrace Saturday

Join in on what is sure to be chaos when StarWars.com hosts a virtual podrace on Twitter.

The racers will be Star Wars celebrities of actor and fandom ilk, alike. And you can play along by Tweeting as a character-not-racing. Think of it as a live-action roleplaying game in 140-character bits. (If only you could limit some real-life LARPers to 140 characters!)

The action will kick off at 11am Pacific, 2pm Eastern. Just follow the hashtag #podrace.

At least you don’t have to worry about having to rebuild your podracer when it’s over.

The Death Watch returns to The Clone Wars with ‘A Friend in Need’

The Mandalorian Death Watch returns in ‘A Friend in Need,’ tonight’s episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As mentioned all the way back around Comic-Con last year, Katee Sackhoff will be voicing one of the Mandos, Boca Raton Bo-Katan. Jon Favreau returns to his role voicing Pre Viszla. The episode will focus mostly on Ahsoka coming to the aid of her Separatist friend, Lux Bonteri, who has gotten himself in over his head with Count Dooku, as shown in the second clip, below.

EUbits: New covers for Phantom Menace, Lost Tribe

Covers. Knight’s Archive found the new cover to The Phantom Menace novelization earlier this week. Shockingly, it looks just like the poster. Like the last TPM-centric rerelease, Shadow Hunter, this one contains a new James Luceno short story and may be a bit difficult to find because both editions share the same ISBN. It’s due out on the 31st.

In other cover reveals, StarWars.com has the covers for eighth Lost Tribe of the Sith installment and the paperback compilation. They look pretty much the same as all the Lost Tribe of the Sith stuff.

Fate of the Jedi. The mini-excerpts for Denning’s Apocalypse begin with – who else? – Saba.

Interviews. In a two-parter, James Luceno talks Darth Plagueis at TFN and Suvudu, while John Jackson Miller chats with CBR’s Tim O’Shea.
