The Stooge is on the move: To Tumblr!

With the Star Wars Blogs in their final days, The Stooge has moved his Star Wars Joke-A-Day, a long-time staple of the Blogs, to Tumblr. So fans, be sure to either bookmark StarWarsJokes.tumblr.com or, better yet, create an account and follow him!

Here a few other Star Wars Tumblrs you might want to follow to get started: Distracted by Star Wars, Professional Geek Girl, Star Wars Backstage, Retro Star Wars, Purple Lightsaber. And you can always poke around the tags to find other stuff you’ll like, though beware spoilers (and/or occasional random nudity.)

Deal with it: Legend of Korra was the #1 scripted show on cable last week

Nickelodeon has a hit on their hands. Legend of Korra may have been beat by the NFL Draft and Pawn Stars in the ratings last week, but it was still cable’s #1 scripted program last week with 4.08 million viewers.

Yes, more people watched Legend of Korra last week than Game of Thrones, which had a not-at-all-shabby 3.9M viewers. Of course, Game of Thrones is on a premium channel and Nickelodeon is basic cable, but still… I’m damn impressed.

What really is the most embarrassingly awful Star Wars merchandise? (Besides the Jar Jar lollipop.)

Gizmodo tries their hand at listing the most embarrassing official Star Wars merchandise, and while they do hit a few – the (hopefully) never-to-be-topped Jar Jar lollipop, the Star Wars Christmas album, the fishing tackle – overall, I think their choices are pretty weak. Sure, most of it is really, truly dumb, but it takes more than some Artoo Christmas lights to get us clutching our pearls.

In fact, I’m sure we can do better: Hell, we have a whole tag devoted to the crazy stuff that Lucasfilm approves. My vote goes to the vaginal Sarlacc toy. Or the pan-fried Vader hospital playset. Or perhaps Le Parfum Des Jedi? (And let’s not even start on the fiction, the comment thread will never end.) It’s a rich minefield down that rabbit hole. What’s your favorite?

Out this week: Nothing but the Free (Comic Book Day)

There’s only one release this week, but it isn’t until Saturday, when you can head to a participating comic shop for Free Comic Book Day. Among the offerings is a two-sided Star Wars/Firefly book from Dark Horse – no, not a crossover, just two stories. And yes, there are plenty of kid-friendly choices and they really are FREE, so bring the younglings.

Our next couple book releases are paperback reprints: Paul S. Kemp’s The Old Republic: Deceived (May 29) and Timothy Zahn’s Choices of One (June 26.)
