Attack of the Clones 3D to screen at Celebration Europe

It may not be coming to a theater near you anytime soon, but Attack of the Clones 3D will be heading to Germany for Celebration Europe II in July. Reed today announced that exclusive screenings of the converted film will be shown for ” an extremely limited engagement.”

They’ve also revealed the art show prints, which are now up for pre-order.

Other recent CEII news: Ashley Eckstein will be attending, and there will be a limited edition Her Universe dress and tee avaliable, as well as 200 of the Return of the Jedi necklaces.

Rumor: Ireland in the mix for Episode VII?

First Scotland, now Ireland? Irish newspaper The Sunday World claims that J.J. Abrams “has already met with leading Irish film executives to discuss his plans – and has even begun to informally scout potential locations.” (via)

The next Mission: Impossible film, which Abrams is producing, may also film in Ireland.

Williams still wants to come back for Episode VII

At this point, it seems almost certain that John Williams will be returning to compose the soundtrack for Episode VII; He’s said he’s like to do it and director J.J. Abrams think he’ll return. Even longtime Abrams collaborator Michael Giacchino thinks so.

In an interview with Zap2it, the composer said:

“We’ve certainly talked about that, and I’m happy and willing to do it,” he confirms. “J.J. Abrams, who will be the director, seems excited about the idea. I have to say that J.J. is a much younger man than I, but I will try to keep up with him as much as I can!”

I’m not sure that “talked about that” infers that formal negotiations are currently in progress, but it does show that he hasn’t lost interest.

Return of the Jedi is 30 today!

Welcome to the real Star Wars day, the anniversaries of the release dates of Star Wars and Return of the Jedi. Star Wars is 36 today; ROTJ is 30.

StarWars.com has a lengthy interview with Industrial Light & Magic effects guru Dennis Muren about ROTJ.

Hollywood.com shows us five new pics from Making of Return of the Jedi.

Celebration Europe: Return of the Jedi under the stars, David Collins

Today we got a few more updates for Star Wars Celebration Europe, coming up in only two months:

Friday night will include a free outdoor screening of Return of the Jedi for its 30th anniversary, in the park next to the Messe Essen convention hall. I’m hoping that actual fireworks will go off over Grugapark after the Battle of Endor!
Sound designer and voice actor David Collins returns as a Celebration host for the Digital Stage, which usually showcases animation, effects, and other multimedia panels. A veteran of many Star Wars games for LucasArts, Collins might be best recognized as the voice of PROXY from The Force Unleashed.
With Mary Franklin hinting at the mammoth programming schedule she is preparing, the Celebration website has started listing the ongoing Celebration activities with the Continuous Daily Program. Check out what’s always available for Celebration attendees each day of the show.

World’s biggest LEGO creation? This X-Wing!

A few bloggers got an early look at LEGO’s 1:1 scale model of Luke’s X-Wing fighter. Check out the pics and videos from Gizmodo, Jedi News, and Yodasnews.

If you happen to be in Manhattan today, the model is now on display in Times Square for three days before heading to the Legoland California Resort for the rest of the year. It’s all to promote next week’s debut of The Yoda Chronicles on Cartoon Network. (James interviewed writer Michael Price earlier this week.)

Hamill: Episode VII deal not signed yet

So Mark Hamill tells Buzzfeed, saying he hasn’t signed a deal for Episode VII yet. But he also talked about his hopes to get a movie version of The Black Pearl shot before Star Wars production starts. He also talks about his stint on the Criminal Minds season finale, which he live-tweeted last night.
