TFN claims to have a description of the teaser trailor for Revenge of the Sith. It’s believed to be attached to The Incredibles, which comes out early next month.
Fly on, Superman!
Christopher Reeve, star of the popular Superman films of the late 70’s/early 80’s, as well as numerous other films, died on Sunday from complications of a wound infection.
Following a riding accident in 1995, Reeve became more known for his work in paralysis research founding the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. However, he still won acclaim in the film world for his directing and acting work following the accident.
Fans of Smallville were particularly fond of his recent work with this generation’s superman as the mysterious Dr. Swann.
Durannies Unite!
Time to dye those blonde bangs, ladies. Duran Duran‘s original lineup is back! Their new album Astronaut goes on sale in the US on Tuesday, October 12th.
But please. Try not to scare all the high schoolers who staff the music stores. They’re not used to women in their 30’s and 40’s acting like teenagers.
Star Wars Book Store Run
Alas, no books to offer you this week. But there are a couple of great items in the magazine rack. (Apologies for those who have seen these. My local stores are a bit slow in putting things out.)
Home Theater Magazine – November 2004 – Features not only a review of the Classic Trilogy DVD, but a not-the-usual interview with Mark Hamill.
Sound&Vision Magazine – October 2004 – This one is worth hunting for, folks. Carrie Fisher interviews George Lucas! Now, they’ve given her technical questions to ask that she, of course, makes sound hilarious. Hear about her efforts to make George a pin-up model. Very funny interview in which you get a George who is a little more relaxed. Mostly discussion about home theaters, but interesting, nonetheless.
New Year Comics
The official site has posted Star Wars comics for January – including Empire #28, which is not, as previously reported, a Mara Jade story. But it is the start of a Luke storyline, with some tie-ins to the Clone Wars mini. So, not a total loss – give me a Luke story over BoShek (Who? Exactly.) any day.
The slash will be with you… always
The second Star Wars ‘ship, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, is up at ship_manifesto. See the ‘ship that brough Star Wars online fandom to the slash side! Fans might also enjoy tpm_flashback and quiobisupport, and of course Master and Apprentice gets a mention.
And for those of us still stuck in 1997, yes, someone is signing up to do Luke/Mara. And no, it’s not me: like I need more reason to rant. :D
“Life’s tough. Get a crash helmet.”
You know you’ve been in fandom too long when your first response to Dear Insecure Fandom Drama Whore is “Preach it, sister!”
Robin Hobb’s Latest Fantasy
I’ve been rereading Robin Hobb’s Liveship Trilogy to take the sting of my rereading of the NJO. (Seriously, Mr. Salvatore? Show don’t tell.) and on a lark I checked out her web site for some random info… And she’s posted a tiny bit regarding her next trilogy in the FAQ:
I’m working on a new trilogy, with the very tentative working title of Soldier Son. You may have read that the title was going to be Second Son. Actually, that is the title of an excellent work by Jennifer Fallon. I had just read the first book of it, and given it a recommendation, and the title must have been clinging to the edges of my brain cells when I was asked for the title of MY new trilogy. Very sorry for all the confusion! I’m not saying much more about my new work in progress right now, as it is very easy for me to talk an idea to death and then feel like I’ve taken all the fun out of actually writing it.
Google turned up a bit more, including a summary of sorts. Alas, the series doesn’t seem to take place in the same world as the Farseer and Liveship novels, but I’m not going to whine too much.
If you’re a Hobb fan, you can keep up with the news and speculation at this fan board or Fitz is Stupid, a community on Livejournal.
