LOTR.net has a short previewfor the Return of the King: Extended Edition. Great Eowyn and Faramir scene!
It’s Star Wars People Week!
First off, George Lucas is getting an AFI Lifetime Award:
“I’ve been very fortunate to have had a long career doing what I love to do, and being recognized by the AFI for it is really an honor,” Lucas said. “I’m proud to be counted among such an extraordinary group of people whose lives are dedicated to the art of making movies.”
And he bought Ewan McGregor a motorbike. Wouldn’t we all? (Assuming we could afford it.) For more Ewan, check out this interview with Scotland Today.
More interview action with Christopher Lee. Damn that man’s done a lot of movies.
And last but not least… The Star Wars Kid makes an appearance in Tony Hawk Underground 2.
Who do I have to kill to get a ticket?
John Williams is one of this year’s recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors. The gala is Dec. 5 in Washington. Other honorees include Warren Beatty and Elton John.
Seriously. Who do I have to mow down?
Smith talks “Hornet”, SW and “Clerks” sequel
Kevin Smith thinks we can learn to love Ben Affleck again. Hmm. Not holding my breath.
More interesting is what he has to say about “Green Hornet”, the “Clerks” sequel, and the SW TV series.
And, yes, you read that correctly — “Clerks” sequel. “The Passion of the Clerks”. Love this man!
Lost takes off
They’re using the word ‘hit’ so it must be true, right? It’s no secret that Lost has already gained quite a fanbase – there’s already a fan site, several Livejournal communities, and even Sawyer fangirls.
And naturally, interviews with the actors. Evangeline Lilly (Kate) on her first speaking role ever; Daniel Dae Kim (Jin)and Yunjin Kim (Sun); Terry O’Quinn (Locke); and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie).
Also in the press, some theories about what’s in that jungle. I don’t know about you, but I’m holding out for Sleestaks. But the theory in the article makes much more sense and probably doesn’t have copyright issues. Or bad rubber suits.
Although… my Cthulhu is missing…
Comics in the schools! Alert the authorities!
Some high schools are assigning graphic novels for students to read. I think it’s brilliant, especially for kids for don’t have much time with regular reading. Comics as gateway drugs… I love it!
And I don’t know about you, but learned a hell of a lot more from Sandman than I ever did from Huck Finn or Wuthuring Heights.
How you doin’?
Another ‘leak’ over at TFN… They claim to have to ROTS teaseer poster. Now that’s what I’m talking about!
The New Tales
It is as I have forseen… The official site has posted a preview of one the stories in Tales #21. Now, I’ve been very fatalistic about this issue, because I dearly love teh funneh of the old Tales and ‘continuity’ is a word that has long since come to mean ‘fanboy stuff not worth the headache’ for me, and really, this isn’t helping.
Although I did gain some amusement from the fact that the main character in the preview is channeling Black!Leather!Gambit.
UNI…CHEF?
Mr McGregor has been busy since he got back from his around-the-world motorcycle trip.
First he was named as a UNICEF ambassador and then he donated the motorcycle from his journey to the charity for auction.
Oh, and the Naked Chef (aka Jamie Oliver) wants Ewan to portray him in a movie. I can feel Trace’s head imploding from here ;)
Celebration News!
The official site has posted about fan club perks at Celebration. Most of this has been previously reported, so the biggest news here is regarding Friends and Family passes. It’s not full access, but it’s more than expected.
