Legacy #3 delay explained

Jan Duursema on TheForce.net Boards:

Many apologies for the delay with issue 3. Sometimes even when you think it’s all covered, there’s that one last unforseen thing that does not fall neatly into place.

We’re exploring some new territory in Star Wars with this one. Personally, I think it will be worth the wait. After 3, we should be back on track with the rest. In the meantime, I keep wondering–when this issue finally hits the stands, will we hear individual screams or will be it more like the sound of a whole planet…

Also, it seems that A Practical Man, the NJO-era Boba Fett e-novella by Karen Traviss, is available now. Won’t be much help for those of us yearning for some post-NJO action, but I suppose Fettheads need love, too.

While we were drinking…

Here’s some of what’s been going on in the outside world.

Revenge of the Sith won two DVD awards. Also on the official site, November 2006 Comics.

Speaking of comics, don’t bother looking for Legacy #3 in stores. It was supposed to come out today (the schedule even said so until this morning) but it’s… not. Word on the boards is that last week’s books didn’t ship either. (I don’t know: I only buy Legacy.) Dark Horse isn’t the only one: Something is rotten in the comics industry.

“May the force be with you” tops online quote poll. And I don’t think TFN linked the poll, which means it might actually have won fair and square. Cool.

Some new Star Wars miniatures debuted at GenCon. The set includes a “Mystral” Shadow Guard, but unless they came with booze and/or naked men, I don’t think any of us noticed. Also, it seems they’re restarting the RPG.

Colleen Doran witnesses The Fan From Hell. I think we’ve found one that beats the Woodtick, folks.

Those damn Harry Potter plagiarists made it all the way up the fannish blog chain to John Scalzi. Twice.

Other stuff I would have blogged:
NASA has misplaced the original moon landing tapes. Our tax dollars at work!
Daniel Radcliffe is down with Harry Potter dying.
Crazy mofo has “temporary” Wolverine piercing. My hand hurts just looking at it.
Hayden Christensen making some movie.
Things writers have no control over. (Add to the list: Killing Chewbacca.)
The Top 8 Shows For SF Myth Busters.
11 Things in Fantasy/That I Don’t Promise Not to Use (or Keep Using) in My Writing and 6 More Things I Could do Without in Fantastic Literature & I don’t plan to use except to make fun of.

Things learned from 10 years of JadeCon

  • Don’t light sparklers in a gazebo when it’s raining.
  • Don’t duct-tape decorations to the suite walls.
  • Don’t tell the Darksiders you’re hungry.
  • Don’t put marzipan in Jello.
  • Do not, under any circumstances, substitute tequila for vodka.
  • No matter how much alcohol you’ve had, never let Yav duct tape a padawan braid to your hair.
  • When meeting a fellow Jader for the first time, you can just tell.
  • When Jessa asks for ice, darn it, you shlep the ice. (Karrdes only.)
  • If you see a CJer doing something that you know cannot possibly turn out well… Get a camera.
  • What happens at JadeCon, stays at JadeCon. Unless Dunc blogs it.
  • Invoke the name.
  • It really sucks putting your hands down Hayden’s shirt.
  • It’s always those damn Harry Potter plagiarists’ fault.

Okay…PCD

I really don’t want to go back to work. But I am not hung over. Well, I have con hangover. Close enough.

New quote: “I can’t wait for the teen years. I want my kids to hide in their rooms and never come out.” (Kelly, Mother of the Year)

I actually was good at GenCon. It was the auction what done me in. I am the proud owner of a Caitlin Shindler original Princess Leia gown. And it is pretty but it takes up way, way, way too much space in my suitcase.

I wish JadeCon were more often. But I think the lack of sleep would kill me. But it might be worth it.

PCD sucks!

Saturday night and Sunday morning are always the hardest. The PCD Kickoff Breakfast if full of good-byes as people trickle back to the airport or get ready for drives home. There’s taking down all the decorations and cleaning the suite, which is a lot like post-Christmas. A line from the old Alice TV series always sticks with me: “Decking the halls is a lot more fun than un-decking the halls.” Amen.

Once we check out of the suite and those of us who hang out until late Sunday or Monday are left, it gets a little better. This is why I stay until Monday; by the time I get home, I’ve mostly gotten over PCD.

Rogue is busy recording his filk CD. I finally got a chance to sing Tish’s “Like A Diva” (to Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”) for him. I am NOT a Madonna fan and she sings a bit out of my range, so I hope it sounds okay. I also did my new filk to Anna Nalick’s “Breathe (2 AM)” with which I’m much more comfortable. Should be an awesome CD with a lot of our collective history.

Some of us will probably visit the floor one more time, we’ll find a place to have dinner together, and it’ll be a nice decompression after the Mara and Mayhem.

PCD, the movie

Well, last night I dressed up, heels and all, and then I fell, flashing half the group in the process. Yay!

So they made me come up and gave me swag for doing the site. Cool! I didn’t have to buy anything. The bidding got a bit high for my wallet. But it was fun. And now I have Chad. Chad Cthulhu.

Just got back from the post-Con depression breakfast. It went by so fast! We need to have JadeCon month or something.

I have pictures, though – they tells the story of JadeCon better than I ever could, I’ll post them later.

So Kelly, you can do another entry now.
