Dude, io9. Like it’s humanly possible for Indiana Jones to flop? Remember how The Phantom Menace made $64,820,970 on it’s opening weekend back in 1999? It might not have been a critical success, it may not have knocked down Titanic, it may have irrevocably changed the landscape of Star Wars fandom in a way Han shooting first could only dream of, but that sucker pulled in the cash. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia. Or the addition of Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg.
That said, I did vote for Speed Racer.
Whether critics or fans like Lucas’s films any more is certainly debatable, and not always in Lucas’s favor (though I think the internets are harsher than the average moivegoer), but people still go see them. Like I’ve always said, paying George more money is no good way to make him stop producing things. There’s a market, and everyone I know, online and offline, is psyched for Indy 4.
Oh, I can’t wait for the live action Dragonball to come out. Not only am I banking on it being a giant flop, but also think of all the opportunities to mock. I have a feeling it’s dialogue will be epic ridonkulous. Better than 300 and Backstroke of the West put together!
I’m not sure what’s more ridiculous – DragonBall or making a live-action out of it.
Nor can I. That’s why the combination can’t help but create lulz for years to come!
