The new information pretty much lines up with what Del Rey’s Erich Schoeneweiss told the EUCast earlier in the month, but we do get a title for the new Thrawn novella – and word of an introduction from Timohy Zahn:
Del Rey Books is publishing a commemorative edition hardcover of Heir to the Empire, with commentary-style annotations by Zahn and other behind-the-scenes people responsible for making the book a reality. Zahn will also pen an introduction to the book.
The book features a reflective jacket (fitting for the book’s platinum anniversary) and also has a specially printed version of the original cover underneath. It will include a new Zahn novella, Crisis of Faith, featuring Grand Admiral Thrawn. Heir to the Empire: The 20th Anniversary Edition is due out from Del Rey on June 21, 2011.
So. Darn. Excited.
Wow, this seems real now!!! I can not wait to get my hands on a copy. This book has been such a huge part of my life, a life I never ever expected all those years ago when I picked up my first copy on a bookshelf at Kmart.
What a long strange wonderful journey it’s been!!!
Nice!
I’m interested to hear what you think of the cover, Dunc.
I really don’t have much to add to what I said when we first saw the earlier version – it all still applies. The layout here is more standard and unimaginative (we’ve seen it a thousand times) but it’ll still be different enough to catch some eyeballs.
I was a little surprised that the accents are in red, though.
20 years is a platinum anniversary? i suppose that’s more practical than wrapping the book in fine china, but if a 25th anniversary is silver, and a 50th is gold… platinum at 20 is a steal.
I’m glad that we’re getting this, and I’m looking forward to getting a copy (and rereading) come June, but man am I discouraged with how much they busied up the cover. Having that much text really interferes with the starkness of the image.
HTTE was one of a series of events that ignited my love of SW in the first place. I can’t wait to read this!
Doyle, this is clearly the work of marketing people. No designer would consciously add that much text.
Forget Palps, they are the true evil ;)
