Donald Glover hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time last night and appeared in nearly every sketch. His monologue revolved around his pre-fame auditions for the show. The Star Wars highlight was his turn in ‘Lando’s Summit’, which points out how few black people there are in the franchise (and, by extension, on Saturday Night Live itself).
For his musical performances as Childish Gambino, he debuted two new songs: “Saturday” and “This is America,” which dropped its own video.

Glover is the third Star Wars star of the Disney era to host Saturday Night Live – Adam Driver and Felicity Jones both appeared after The Force Awakens and Rogue One, respectivly. Natalie Portman hosted for the second time back in February.
