Jungles and Toothpick Fish

David Nykl (aka Dr. Zelenka) has already posted from the new Stargate Atlantis season with some set pictures and a rather nice picture of Jason Momoa (aka Ronon Dex) in a tank top. (Can this ever be a bad thing?)

Sorry, gentlemen. Getting back to the subject.

They’re shooting out of order, so it shouldn’t really spoil you to see the set. And he’s very cryptic. But jokes are already going, as evidenced by some mysterious reference to the toothpick fish.

Gating into Season 4

Today marks the official kick-off of Stargate Atlantis Season 4 with the traditional cast-producer dinner.

And according to David Hewlett (aka Rodney McKay) the next day apparently marks the traditional “try to do a read-through with a hangover” party.

Hewlett also reports that there is more leather costuming this year. (The ladies rejoice.)

David Nykl (aka Dr. Zelenka) is rather sad that he is not one of those who’ll get to wear leather. Back to his regular blue t-shirt.

Much teasing and episode names discussed, but no real spoilerage.

Also appearing on the web is Chuck Campbell (aka “Chucknician“) who announces that he’ll not only be in the first episode of the season, but might also be getting a name; his own.

For those who prefer their reality virtual, GateWorld speaks with Stargate Worlds Creative Director, Chris Klug.

Stargate SG-1 fans, in the meantime, gather to mourn until April when the follow-up films begin shooting.

BSG Bounty

Apparently, this is the week to release news about next season. So it is that TV Guide’s Ausiello Report cornered David Eick to get some tidbits.

In short: mystery guest star, BSG movie, spoilage for the end of Season 3, Caprica is still a possibility.

Gaters Rejoice…and Pout

Sci-Fi continues to test the patience of Stargate fans with their pronouncements.

Happy news! Stargate-Atlantis is, indeed, back for Season 4. (Didn’t we hear that already?) And it will have the first-ever fall premiere for the Stargate franchise. Plus, we get the lovely Jewel Staite and Amanda Tapping joining the show. We also get to meet a new race.

Grumpy news. As if we haven’t waited long enough, they’re pushing back the second half of both Stargate seasons one more week to April 13. And we get to “mourn the loss of beloved friends.” (Who’s fault was that?)

Breaking News! – The Chicago Tribune‘s The Watcher blog spoke with producer Joseph Mallozzi about the Sci-Fi announcement; giving more details on Sam’s role in SGA, the upcoming casting changes (which, let’s face it, everyone has already heard about) and a few more details on what was hinted. SPOILERS abound, but not in terribly much detail.

Don’t they know they shouldn’t mess with a fanbase that costumes in camouflage?

That’s no moon. That’s a Saturn!

The nominations have come out for The Saturn Awards; basically sci-fi’s answer to The Oscars and The Emmy’s combined.

Superman Returns leads the pack with ten nominations in the film categories. But even if you weren’t a fan of that film, there are tons of nominations to make most fans’ hearts go pitter-pat in at least one category.

And the TV categories seem to be a wide-open battle between Lost, Heroes, Dexter and Battlestar Galactica.

The winners are announced in May.
