Legend of the Seeker Premieres This Weekend

It’s fall here in the Northern Hemisphere.  Always a nice time to get into a fantasy story.  And since the rest of the genre shows seem to be tanking, let’s see if this one’s a good one?

Legend of the Seeker is a syndicated series (they still have those?) based on Terry Goodkind’s The Sword of Truth novels.  It looks to be from the same folks who brought us Xena and Hercules, so that might cloud or clear up your expectations.

Of interest to Star Wars Celebration fans is that our ever-charming Celebration host (and Captain Typho) Jay Lagai’aia is playing a big supporting role.

Come back after you’ve seen it and let everyone know what you think.

Gate Geek – The Stargate Universe Opens

And now, we give you concept art for the upcoming Stargate Universe series.  Thankfully, they seem to be staying away from designs that suggest Beverly Hills; hopefully reinforcing their reassurances that the unfortunately-phrased initial press release will not result in Stargate 90210.

In other Gate news, Gateworld nabs interviews with Corin Nemec (aka Jonas Quinn) and Colin Cunningham (Major Davis).

Colin is promoting his film short Centigrade, which is now available on iTunes.  I got to see it at Dragon*Con.  It is seriously creepy and intense.  I’d highly recommend it; especially for those who enjoyed the darker Twilight Zone and Outer Limit stories.

Cows as a security hazard and JJ Abrams on Star Wars

Bonnie scored yet another cool interview.  This time, she talks to JJ Abrams; he of Lost and Fringe and of another small series you might have heard about.  (Star Trek, people!  Not Felicity.)

So apparently JJ found out that you can’t take cows across the border from Canada.  It had to have an American stand-in.  And he loves creating interactive websites that expand his shows.

And as a long-time Star Wars fan, he had a really cool idea for StarWars.com:  how about an online Galactic Senate where fans could debate issues?  Star Wars fans love to debate things!

Gate Geek – There are no small parts….

A couple of nice interviews with two of the actors behind some of the “minor” roles in Stargate:

And the official site posts a teaser for The Lost Tribe (the second part of a 2-parter featuring Daniel Jackson) that doesn’t give it all away like the SciFi promo apparently does.
