The Official Site has put up the teaser for Vegas. (Their teasers are always so much better than SciFi’s!) Remember to watch it as you’re recovering from your New Years revelry.
And Robert Picardo comforts us by assuring GateWorld that, in spite of the late notice, the writers have managed to wrap things up well for the series end while still leaving it open for the movie.
At least there’s that. Now…where did I put that bottle….
Now that the actors have decided to postpone their strike vote, we can get back to worrying and fretting about the fates of our favorite genre shows.
SciFi is jumping on the prediction wagon by rating the chances of show survival for: Chuck, Heroes, Eleventh Hour, Life on Mars, Sarah Connor and Knight Rider.
Personally, I’m voting for Chuck and all his unabashedly geeky enthusiasm
Majel Barret Roddenberry, Star Trek actor and wife of Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, passed away on Thursday of leukemia at the age of 76. Known for her roles as Nurse Christine Chapel in the Original Series, Lwaxana Troi in The Next Generation, and the voice of the ship’s computer (of nearly all Starfleet and Federation vessels) in all the series and films of the franchise, including the upcoming JJ Abrams reboot.

Jawa’s note: I met Majel Barrett at a Star Trek convention in 1993, and though I really didn’t know who she was or who Lwaxana Troi was (not much of a Trek fan back then), she was really sweet to me.

Robert Carlyle, probably best known for The Full Monty, will be playing the role of Dr. David Rush. (Those of us obsessed with Ewan McGregor would know him for his role in Trainspotting.)
Mr. Carlyle gets to enjoy Vancouver beginning in February.
Gate fans are a notoriously picky bunch with (let’s face it) a lot of drahmah and gnashing of teeth about where they want to see the story go and what they want for “their” characters.
Now that Atlantis is coming to a close, the writers appear to be speaking out a bit about the fan complaints; explaining the twists and turns that plot lines and characters can take in a show’s development. And, basically, telling people to get over it.
Martin Gero (who seems to get the most love-it-or-hate-it reactions to his episodes) talks to GateWorld about the reactions people have to his stories. (You need to get past the discussion of YPF, first, though.) And takes the fans to task for their treatment of Keller.

The Los Angeles Times took a look at the glut of Hollywood genre remakes/revivals this weekend, and Star Wars gets a mention due to The Clone Wars. Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica – among others – also share the spotlight.
It’s Monday and I got nothing. Granted, I just got here, so don’t give up on us yet. But for now, take a look at The Secret Life of Toys. It has stormtroopers, Indiana Jones, and bloodthirsty Muppets. Score!
Santa Maul found this clip in his sack a few days ago, and he trusts that you will take Mr. Colbert’s advice and buy many, many Force FX lightsabers. No lowly stick could match its fine quality of making George Lucas and Hasbro shareholders (like Santa Maul!) richer.

With the two-hour ‘backdoor pilot’ still in scheduling limbo (we got a trailer in July, but SciFi.com proper has some catching up to do) it’s pretty shocking that the channel has gone ahead and greenlighted the actual series. Here’s hoping that that the Battlestar Galactica’s final season doesn’t depress the audience too much to tune into a prequel.
