A schoolgirl girl band. And Ahsoka. Oh, Japan. (From The Clone Wars panel – the band is AKB48, and it seems Dave Filoni does most of the talking.) Also: Steve Sansweet in a kimono yukata, Mark Hamill and George Lucas in Carbonite. (Okay, mildly surprising.)
AP reviews The Clone Wars
The Associated Press got an early peek at The Clone Wars and chatted with Dave Filoni about the movie. Their take is pretty positive, but they do manage to cite least one detail that outdoes the hilarity/horror of “punky muffin.” Here’s hoping it sounds better in context…
Dark Horse covers for The Clone Wars
The Clone Wars character designs look a tad less wonky as actual drawings, but I’m not sure that angle is the most appropriate angle for Ahsoka… (Full spread: The Clone Wars #1, The Clone Wars #2, Shipyards of Doom, Crash Course.)
And while we’re on the topic of Dark Horse, a preview for Knights of the Old Republic #31.
Two new The Clone Wars posters
EU Cantina spotted these over at Latino Review. Thoughts?

When will The Clone Wars air?
We heard Friday back in April (and Rebelscum rumored it not too long ago as well) but now Sci-Fi Wire is saying that the Cartoon Network will be airing their action-adventure block on Saturday. Real change or error? (Thanks, Stooge!)
The fandom minute: Ahsoka, blogs, project, Mandos
- Shocking! io9 thinks that Ahsoka Tano is going to die. We say: No shit, Sherlock.
- Fansites: Share your EU musings on EUC’s EUBlogs.
- Project: Make your collection classy with a miniatures wall decoration.
- Time-wasting: Mando fans can customize (to the point of being nearly ridiculous) their fantasy armor with the Mandalorian Merc’s Mandomaker.
More reviews from The Clone Wars preview
Holy press crush Batman! And they like it! (Mostly.) Yes, more spoilers.
- Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker: “It just might be better than all the live-action prequels put together.”
- The Live Feed: “‘Clone Wars’ is likely the most photo-realistic animated TV series ever produced.”
- Premium Hollywood: “If this series stays at the quality we just witnessed, I’ll be there week after week after week.”
- Scott D. Pierce’s TV Talk (Deseret News:) “…Holy cow, it was great!”
- Tim Goodman’s The Bastard Machine (SFGate:) “I’m not sure your average adult is going to be watching this regularly, but I know my 5-year-old is going to flip for it.”
- Variety’s take is… businesslike, The Star-Ledger’s Alan Sepinwall is skeptical, IGN is mainly positive, and Zap2it’s From Inside the Box has the best collection of Dave Filoni quotes.
- The negative voices are The Oregonian’s Idiot Box, Andrew Ryan of The Globe and Mail’s L.A. Diary and MeeVee’s Joel Brown.
Journalists see full episode of The Clone Wars
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette‘s Tuned-in Journal (It’s a blog, dude: Just call it a blog) has a surprisingly detailed description of the episode’s contents. Worth noting: It made a ‘a positive impression.’
Spoilers are black-barred and reproduced beneath the cut. Continue reading “Journalists see full episode of The Clone Wars“
The Clone Wars Happy Meal toys kind of creepy
Disembodied heads stuck on vehicles? Okay! And they’re actually giving us more than The Clone Wars: Wicket, Vader, Chewie, Leia, Luke and Han are among the strange bobbleheadesque figures in a promotional sheet found by Rebelscum. And like the ROTS Burger King figures, there are a lot of them… Not as many as BK, but more than your usual Happy Meal assortment. Still, creepy.
Oh well. The kids will probably love it.
