So Celebration news might have been a bust, but there were a lot of nice hints about The Clone Wars in the Star Wars Spectacular. (Watch the teaser.) What rocks your boat for S2? Answer on the sidebar or beneath the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Getting excited for more Clone Wars?”
SDCC ’09: Saturday morning Star Wars news roundup
James sent in these photos from the Spectacular. Note the hatless Filoni. We’ve got a few hours to go on the G4 broadcast, but from what we heard last night I’m recommending copious use of the DVR. Below, the return of the hat, plus The Clone Wars voice actors.
And now, your morning news updates:
- Sounds like the Fan Movie Challenge Awards were anything but a disappointment: My favorite, Star Wars Retold, was the George Lucas Selects! Other winners include Saber, Family Dysfunction, Star Sports Theatrical Trailer, Star Wars in a Notebook and Star Wars Cinemagic. Check them out at Atom.
- The reports from The Clone Wars design and The Old Republic panels.
- And for those of you who like to check out girls in Slave Leia getup, StarWars.com provides.
Still no Fate of the Jedi panel writeups from anyone… It also seems odd that The Clone Wars footage isn’t up yet, but I’m hopeful it’ll be there eventually. UPDATE: The teaser went up just after the G4 broadcast. Duh.
SDCC ’09: Star Wars Spectacular? Not so much…
We got nothing, folks. Nothing. Okay, there was TFU and Clone Wars, but nothing else major. Not even Blu-Ray! The StarWars.com write-up is up for those of you who want a less grumpy take on things… My unhinged ramblings, and what Moulin Rouge has to do with The Clone Wars, are beneath the cut (or on the twitter.) SDCC ’09 roundup: Star Wars Day in the afternoon
Fine, I cave: I’ll be updating this throughout the afternoon/evening, at least until the Spectacular… Unless something huge breaks!
The sun says hello. Afternoon for me, anyway: All this was morning for California, and you can tell because StarWars.com has snapshots from the Fan Club Breakfast, and more from TFN. (5:20e)
All the wonderful toys. They also have Hasbro’s presentation. The Comic Packs are mostly things we’ve already seen, but I think the Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma are new. Walmart is getting an exclusive Corran Horn/Whistler and Rouge Squadron #1 two-pack (Dllr Nep and Plourr Ilo?) while Target will have a Wedge with X-Wing.
But the biggest news in here for us is that they’re adding Jacen and Jaina Solo to the Droid Factory line in 2010! Meanwhile, future Comic Packs will include Legacy’s Delia Blue/Darth Nihl and KOTOR’s Jarael/Rohlan Dyre. (5:20e)
Something something in 3-D. EU Cantina was tweeting live from The Clone Wars panel. Tidbits include S2 tone, comments on rogue Jedi and the unlikliness of a second movie. (5:20e)
SDCC Roundup: Comic-Con starts Thursday!
Look who’s debuting. Among the new items Sideshow is bringing to Con? A 12″ figure of an old pal of ours, Grand Admiral Thrawn! And some other guys.
From the floor. Mary Franklin and her minions are hard at work already, setting up the Lucasfilm Pavilion! There’s a peek at a few more of The Clone Wars bounty hunters as well, including two brand-new characters.
- Memories. Fan testimonials from earlier in the year.
- Hey, gamers! The Clone Wars: Repulic Heroes launch trailer is here.
- Funny business What Comic-Con means to Seth Green, things people say to him on the floor and his guide to costumes. On that note, Green is joined by partners-in-humor Matthew Senreich and Breckin Meyer to talk about the new Robot Chicken DVD and their SDCC skate party.
- The Empire Muggs Back. Amy Pronovost’s Jaxxon and Sarah Wilkinson’s Shaak Ti.
- Fan sites. TFN and company will be twittering at the con and holding a live chat during the Spectacular.
Some The Clone Wars Season 2 pics
The MTV Movies Blog has gotten some pics of some characters from season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: It’s everyone’s favorite Trandoshan bounty hunter … and Cad Bane.
Out this week: Robot Chicken, Menace Revealed, and?
Today is the day for Robot Chicken: Star Wars – Episode II DVDs! Hooray! Nothing out Wednesday but the Menace Revealed omnibus. Or..?
See, while StarWars.com and the various bookseller sites are telling me The Art of Star Wars: The Clone Wars won’t be out until fall, Diamond has it listed for Wednesday (twice: both versions?) under merchandise which means, presumably, coming to a comic store near you (if they ordered it.) Just for Comic-Con? Perhaps…
First season collection of The Clone Wars coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on November 3
Bryan Young has the specs – and cover – on the set from Lucasfilm and Warner Home Video. Bonus features include seven Director’s Cut Episodes, featurettes for each episode (though that sounds like the ones we’ve already seen on StarWars.com,) and a 64-page production journal. The Blu-Ray version will also come with The Jedi Temple Archives, “An extensive database exploring test footage, early concept art, 3-D character and object turnarounds and early animation.”
The suggested retail price is $44.98 for DVD and $59.99 for Blu-ray.
ETA: On StarWars.com.
Out this week: The Clone Wars, KOTOR
Let’s hear it for comics! This week, Wednesday will bring The Clone Wars #7 and Knights of the Old Republic #43, both the beginnings of new storylines.
Is it San Diego Comic Con yet?!?
No. No it is not. But it will be soon, and thus details about the con are coming thick on the ground. We got the general Star Wars event schedule earlier in the week, but now StarWars.com gives us Del Rey’s, including some signings and giveaways like a double-sided Fate of the Jedi/Deathtroopers poster, above. (Far more tempting is the possibility of getting free copies of The Essential Atlas, The Complete Vader and The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia)
- I’m not going to get a chance to watch/review all the Fan Movie Challenge Finalists before the Friday deadline, so consider this your reminder to head over there and vote for Audience Choice.
- The Fan Club Breakfast ticket deadline has come and gone, but if you nabbed one, they have a plethora of raffle prizes, including one of those wacky Force Trainers.
- The Official Pix guest list includes Mark Hamill, Edward James Olmos, several Clone Wars voice actors and some dudes from Chuck.
- Also… Kotobukiya will be giving away stuff; The Slave Leias will be out in force.
