The Last Jedi trailer, tickets on Monday?

The evidence certainly seems to be mounting that we’re getting The Last Jedi trailer and tickets on Monday. Most of it is various fan ventures hand-waving about their “sources,” (theater employees?) and of course there’s a Reddit component (theater employee!) now, but things are looking pretty likely. (And going back, there’s all The Force Awakens parallels and that deleted Mark Hamill tweet.)

If this all bears out, we can expect an official announcement and the poster on Sunday. Non-football watchers, brace yourselves now for watching football and/or endlessly refreshing the Star Wars Youtube channel now.

Fingers crossed, because do any of us really want another week of this?

Snoke strikes a pose, and other The Last Jedi shenanigans

There’s a Snoke action figure, and hilarity has ensued. I’m sorry, but not really. (Thanks, Heath!)

→ StarWars.com has added/updated some databank entries for The Last Jedi. They’re pretty vague!

A nice lengthy Mark Hamill interview is short on The Last Jedi details, but still pretty fun. At much less length, Domhnall Gleeson.

→ Behind the scenes footage of The Last Jedi will be among the Disney movies featured in one of those before-the-showing reels.

Today in Ron Howard’s Han Solo set pics: Thandie Newton

Han Solo director Ron Howard shared a photo of Thandie Newton back on set. “@thandienewton returned 2 #TheGalaxy to light up some key new #UntitledHanSolo scenes then back to #Westworld,” he wrote. “What a powerhouse talent!”

Hard to say if this is before she’s been through makeup and costume, but folks are sure interested in that logo on her shoulder… (And we don’t yet know anything about her role, either!)

The second season of Westworld is expected to debut in the spring of 2018 – just like the Han film.

But wait, there’s more…

Rumor: Will The Last Jedi be the longest Star Wars film yet?

According to Cineworld, The Last Jedi will be an astonishing 150 minutes long – two and a half hours.

If the runtime is confirmed, that would make it the longest Star Wars film yet. Currently, that’s Attack of the Clones, which clocks in at two hours and twenty minutes. Most of the prequel trilogy falls into that range, while the original trilogy averages at just over two hours – Return of the Jedi is the longest at two hours and eleven minutes.

The Force Awakens was two hours and sixteen minutes; Rogue One clocks in at two hours and thirteen minutes.

The Last Jedi: New pictures, costumes, nonexistent toy ‘spoilers’

Lucasfilm has released a new batch of images from The Last Jedi. None of them are new, exactly – they’ve all debuted in various publications – but it’s nice to get these out and about sans watermarks and crops. Check them all out at our Facebook.

→ Did Topps show us Luke Skywalker’s final costume? It’s not really much of a departure from what we’ve already seen him in, but since when has that ever stopped anything?

Don’t get too excited about things floasting around that ID a mini-Lego hologram that comes with Snoke as a character who’s not at all confirmed to be in this trilogy. Remember Finn Calrissian? And speaking of Topps and Snoke, they also give us our first official look at him.

→ More Snoke: Andy Serkis on who he didn’t have scenes with in The Last Jedi.

→ Shockingly, Domhnall Gleeson won’t commit to being around for IX. Okay, not that shockingly.

Rebels S4 to air – mostly – in hour blocks

The fourth and final season of Rebels will air throughout the fall in mostly one-hour blocks. Here’s the 2016 schedule:

  • Monday, 10/16 – “Heroes of Mandalore” Parts 1 & 2
  • Monday, 10/23 – “In the Name of the Rebellion” Parts 1 & 2
  • Monday, 10/30 – “The Occupation” and “Flight of the Defender”
  • Monday, 11/6 – “Kindred” and “Crawler Commandeers”
  • Monday, 11/13 – “Rebel Assault”

Episodes will air at 12:30 a.m., 3:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD. (This isn’t a huge departure from previous seasons, where anyone with the app could watch the show early. The extended airing times haven’t put a stop to that, either.) Rebels Recon will continue to be posted after the 9:00pm showing.

They’ll return after the hiatus – and The Last Jedi – to finish off the season. The finale is “so secret that only a few people on the production team know how it will end,” Lucasfilm said in the release.

Ron Howard is now teasing the spice mines of Kessel

So, a mine shaft, the caption “Spicey?” What else could this be but the famed spice mines of Kessel, finally making their big-screen debut? (Yes, they were on Rebels, which showed that Wookiees were sent there… Hmm.) Presumably.

I wouldn’t put any bets on Han encountering a snot-nosed kid named Kyp there, though at least this time around there’s no Solo daughter (…hopefully) for him to creepily flirt with a few decades down the line…
