The jig is up!
Shut the blog down, everyone go home – Andrey Summers has outed us all: Star Wars fans hate Star Wars. (via Fandom Lounge)
Very lonely nerds
Star Wars jokes on Family Guy get run by Lucasfilm:
Regarding any legal issues with the extremely frequent Star Wars jokes Family Guy is known for, McFarlane explained, “Lucasfilm has actually gotten on board. It’s getting to the point where we’ll send these Star Wars jokes of the week to Lucasfilm.”
I’m not a huge Family Guy fan, but the entire article is actually quite interesting. The Star Wars stuff is on the last page.
En guarde!
Star Wars inspired Olympic fencer. Speaking of sabers, here’s a surprisingly professional fan-made duel video that’s been making the rounds.
Old site, new home
The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia is striking out on its own. A favorite resource of many Wookieepedians and fanfic writers, the Encyclopedia seems to have outgrown the capabilities of TheForce.net. Enjoy freedom!
Dooku Enterprises: Working For You!
Web 2.0 or Star Wars character? I got 41 (out of 43) despite not recognizing most of the Web 2.0 names, but obviously crazy Star Wars fans are not the demographic they’re going for. I do really want to name a company ‘dooku’ now, though.
The Empire scores big at The Empire Movie Awards
The Empire Movie Awards were announced, last night. Star Wars finally won some awards that didn’t involve a Razzie.
Love or hate the Frankenstein tribute, the Birth of Darth Vader won Scene of the Year.
Revenge of the Sith also won for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film of the Year. (There’s even a little video message from George, in acknowledgement.)
Other Club Jade favorites that won:
Johnny Depp – Best Actor for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Pride and Prejudice – Best British Film
The Harry Potter Films – Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema
Congratulations to them all!
Runway fans
Starwars.com talks to several contestants of the reality show Project Runway about Star Wars, fashion, and costuming.
Andrae’s mother is obviously a woman after our own hearts:
“Another funny Star Wars memory for me happened when my mother used to get complimented on the fake fur coat that she used to wear around the same time that Return of the Jedi was released. When people asked her what kind of fur it was, she’d always say, ‘Ewok.'”
No Academy Award for Sith
Howard Berger and Tami Lane just won the Best Makeup Oscar for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It was the lone category Revenge of the Sith was nominated in.
OH NOES!
Hayden Christenson wins Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor. Somewhere, someplace, someone is wanking over this.
