Neither Robot Chicken: Star Wars or Family Guy: Blue Harvest picked up Creative Arts Emmys yesterday, losing out to The Simpsons and South Park, respectively. And Carrie Fisher, who was up for her 30 Rock guest spot, lost out to some chick from Desperate Housewives. On the whole, it wasn’t a great night for genre, but Battlestar Galactica did pick up Special Visual Effects for a series.
The latest in The Clone Wars
ENI has some new screencaps from the tv series (presumably from the first two episodes, since we know the press kits are out and about;) Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff Jenson defends The Clone Wars. (Are there any prequel fans dead from shock yet?)
Family Guy’s ESB parody to debut on DVD?
Seth MacFarlane tells Sci-Fi Wire that Family Guy’s Empire Strikes Back spoof, Something Something Something Dark Side, may be released on DVD before it airs on TV. Also, who plays Lando? Click through to find out.
In the news: Live-action something, maybe; George; Amira Sa’id; Happy Meals; Mark Hamill
Rumorville: Perth Now is reporting that the music for a Star Wars TV series filmed in Sydney that “could have 400 half-hour episodes” (umm…) will be recorded in Perth by Malcolm Luker. Okay then! Of course, George Lucas (or a good impersonator) was spotted down under last week. I guess we’ll get the full story (or not) in November.
- But seriously… George is part of Vanity Fair’s New Establishment.
- Good luck with that: British comedian/TV personality Justin Lee Collins is attempting to reunite the Star Wars cast on a show airing this Sunday. (Warning: The Sun.)
- Fans of note: Underwire has a short profile of Slave Leia belly dancer Amira Sa’id. And video of her routines, natch.
- Licensees: The Clone Wars Happy Meals (and the Olympics) helped boost McDonald’s sales. We’re so proud.
- People: Word on the street is that Mark Hamill will reprise the Joker for the Batman: Arkham Asylum game.
Cartoon Network launches new The Clone Wars site
Cartoon Network has expanded their Clone Wars mini-site. It’s still sparsely populated, but there are character bios (including a new one for Grievous that’s been mildly controversial) and a new commercial/bumper spot. And most important of all, the button to turn off the music actually works!
Also, TFN has some good news for fans in Canada: The series will premiere on the Space Channel on October 10th, at 4pm.

More on The Clone Wars TV debut
Coming Soon has Cartoon Network’s press release, including brief blurbs for the first two episodes – which run back to back October 3! (via)
Also, TFN’s Force-Cast has an interview with TCW’s Anakin, Matt Lanter.
Give Clone Wars another shot. It’s good!
So I was in the audience at Dragon*Con when they showed the first episode of the upcoming Clone Wars cartoon. Do yourself a favor: give it another shot.
I was in the same group as others who found the movie to be, um…tedious. I wasn’t terribly impressed. But the first episode I saw was great! A nice balance of character, story and battle. And I think Yoda has more lines in this first episode than in all the movies combined. It descends into a couple of spots of “only funny to kids” humor, but only for a few seconds here and there. And I suspect that will fade as the series finds its legs.
So don’t give up on it just yet. Stick with it for a few episodes and see if it doesn’t win you back. You might just be surprised!
The Clone Wars TV trailer is up!
The Clone Wars comes to TV October 3!
Cartoon Network charmingly made us ignore an entire episode of Ben 10: Alien Force first. In brief: Mon Cal Jedi. Grievous. Plo Koon speaks. Lots of Ahsoka. October 3rd at 9:00. Roger roger.
Watching for the trailer on StarWars.com and CartoonNetwork.com (or maybe Yahoo?) but it may not show until morning. On Tuesday. Happy Labor Day! Up now!
