Rebels cast speaks at Comic-Con. It’s not panel time yet (6pm PDT/9pm EDT) but Vanessa Marshall, Tiya Sircar, Steve Blum, and Taylor Gray answered a few fan questions live a little bit ago – and you can catch up at the link!
Video: Robot Chicken’s Episode VII Jitters Song
It’s preview night at SDCC. None of us are there (though James is) so we get this instead. Yay?
First look at Lucasfilm’s SDCC pavilion
On StarWars.com this morning, Mary Franklin shares some pictures from the Lucasfilm Pavilion at San Diego Comic-Con. (Though not the one above – that’s from her Twitter.) The con officially begins tonight, with the Rebels panel on Thursday and three book panels on Friday.
Episode VII news is not expected, unless it comes via the grapevine (or Mary’s video wall, but that’s a long shot.) And while the rumor mill is saying we might get an announcement of a Princess Leia comic from Marvel, I’m not sure where that would happen: At the A New Dawn panel, which seems focused on Del Rey? None of Marvel’s own panels seem to fit the bill.
In any case, don’t forget about the Rebels screening and HitFix party!
Video: New extended trailer for Rebels
A new trailer for Rebels showed up in the middle of the night, because why not, I guess. This one contains some new footage in addition to what we’ve seen in the first few clips and trailers, plus a date of ‘October.’
They’re also having a preview screening at SDCC.
Today in Episode VII rumors: More wig, ancient Sith
→ Friday means Da7e Gonzales’s Star Wars column at Latino Review, and today he unpacks a few things going on this week. No, we haven’t heard the last of Karen Gillan’s wig. Although she’s using it on her TV show now, it was on the Star Wars set at some point. Still no guarantee of anything, Mara fans. Love, your self-declared Cynic-in-Chief.
Also, people are assuming the Puzzlewood set could be Endor? A different part of Endor would make slightly more sense than Yavin IV, I guess. But I’m still inclined to think that if Puzzlewood is anything, it’s a brand new planet.
But on the plus side, he does smack down on those folks claiming that the ‘outrage’ over the initial casting was a bad thing. (For the record: Still not sorry.)
Of course, the real rumor buried here is this:
I’ve heard that Disney’s Team Star Wars has spun up development on a project involving the history of the Sith that pulls from elements found previously in Knights of the Old Republic and the Golden Age of the Sith parts of the “Tales of the Jedi” comics series.
Naturally, if you buy it, this could be for just about anything (even Episode VII if you believe the whole Jedi Hunter rumor) but that’s still a popular period among EU fans, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it utilized for something.
→ Meanwhile, Making Star Wars is speculating again, this time about a recently revealed Rebels character (not the Inquisitor) and how he may tie into some things we’ve ‘heard’ about Episode VII.
→ By the by, I answered a question on Tumblr about rumors the other day. Yeah, that bit about Brian Blessed is true.
Confirmed: Jason Isaacs is Rebels’ Inquisitor
Entertainment Weekly confirms that Jason Isaacs is indeed the Rebels’ big bad.
Isaacs is known to genre fans for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, and voicing Admiral Zhao on the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender – which Dave Filoni worked on before leaving for The Clone Wars.
He was originally rumored for the role by TFN.

Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide spotted, confirms familiar characters
Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide has been spotted out in the wild, and seems to confirm some familiar characters for the show… The book will be out in hardcover July 21 from DK.
Confirmed: David Oyelowo is voicing Rebels’ Agent Kallus
Hero Complex has the news that David Oyelowo is the voice of Rebels’ #2 baddie – and the Agent Kallus introduction video. He has mutton chops. How very!
Oyelowo’s involvement in Rebels – and, at one point, Episode VII – has been rumored for some time.
Rebels takes the lead for Star Wars at SDCC
The Rebels panel is the highlight of SDCC for Star Wars fans, StarWars.com revealed this afternoon.
Producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg, as well as most of the main cast, will be at ‘The Heroes of Star Wars Rebels‘ on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.. There’s rampant speculation that the villain’s voice (as rumored…) will be revealed, but as of yet that’s it… Hell, I’d settle for an actual release date at this point.
Episode VII is sitting it out yet again, but the rest of the slate includes a dedicated book panel (2:00 p.m. Friday) with John Jackson Miller, Shelly Shapiro, Frank Parisi, Jennifer Heddle , Pablo Hidalgo, Vanessa Marshall and Dave Filoni. Hopefully they reveal some books beyond the four we know about…
J.W. Rinzler is also moderating panels on Star Wars Storyboards (with Joe Johnston on Friday at 11:00 a.m.) and kid’s book The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight (with author Tony DiTerlizzi n Friday at 3:00 p.m.)
