You didn’t have to look very hard to find the multitudes of Disney/Marvel mashups this week, but in case you haven’t bothered, Worth1000 provides more.
Videos: Movie music magic by Pogo
Pogo creates music using samples from movies. You may have seen ‘Bangarang,’ his track using Hook, around the web yesterday:
Here’s ‘Alohomora,’ using samples from Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone:
I’m not quite sure what (if anything) this one is sampling, but the video does feature a guy dancing around in a Darth Vader mask:
‘Expialidocious,’ utilizing Mary Poppins:
And ‘Mary’s Magic,’ using 1993’s The Secret Garden:

Disney to buy Marvel for $4B
Well, if they are announcing Star Tours at the D23 Expo on Sept. 13th, it’s going to be in the shadow of fallout from today’s huge news: What the mouse plans to do with Marvel Entertainment. And what this means for Universal Studios Orlando, which is currently operating several rides based on Marvel properties? (ETA: Nothing.) Will we be seeing Marvel weekends? All this and more as things develop…
ETA: Lots of laughs on Twitter with #badmarveldisney.
‘Fan fiction’ makes it to the dictionary!
The term ‘fan fiction’ is one of the new additions to the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary. Here’s their definition, according to the Associated Press:
Fan fiction (1944): stories involving popular fictional characters that are written by fans and often posted on the Internet.
Other new words and phrases making the cut this year are ‘flash mob,’ ‘frenemy,’ ‘sock puppet,’ ‘vlog,’ and ‘webisode.’

Like abs? Like laundry? You’ll love Comic Con!
Yes, the reasons ladies enjoy San Deigo Comic Con all come down to there being hot guys (and vampires!) there. What more could a woman ask for than this:
Women will be rushing the stage, offering to do star Jake Gyllenhaal’s laundry on those washboard abs that he acquired for the film, since he spends much of it fighting, shirtless or both. Jake, we don’t want to know how to quit you.
Mmm, laundry. We love laundry. But does the Gyllenhaal come in a front-loading model?
Father’s Day is coming!
It’s almost Father’s Day here in the U.S. (June 21,) so get ready for more celebration of our favorite limb-chopping dad in the style of Asylum’s Great Moments in Pop Culture Fatherhood. Or maybe this video from a year or so back, How To Be The Best Dad In The Galaxy. And how could anyone forget this action figure two-pack?
If you’re still in the market for gifts, there are guides from Geekdad (1, 2, 3) and StarWars.com. Or you can always just go straight to ThinkGeek. (I, uhh, ordered my father’s gift from there just now.)
The catchup: Links from Twitter
Here are some of the things I’ve micro-blogged over @clubjade in the last week or so.
Sci-fi raver chic, or… Eventually, some fan costumer is going to get their hands on this fiber-optic fabric, and we’re going to be seeing walking holograms at cons.
My god! “Star Trek’s entire history in all media over the last four decades has been nothing but revisions and reboots. ” And so it is. Fascinating stuff… And very familiar.
Speaking of a cycle of never-ending reboots… The companion for the new Doctor Who was announced last week. Quote of the hour: “…I feel like I’m going to be watching Doctor Nine Oh Who One Oh.”
For my peeps. Jezebel takes the TV teen queens of the early 90’s head to head. Blossom or Clarissa?
Geek decor. Twenty brilliant bookcases.
Geek out your kid’s room… Or your own
Longing for some Star Wars bedding? Well, the stuff at Pottery Barn Kids is on sale, and I don’t think that Millennium Falcon quilt was around last time we featured it. In any case, it’s available in up to queen size. And did I mention the sale?
UPDATE: And now the sales (on the SW stuff) are gone. Poodoo.
