IGN has unearthed a shocking – SHOCKING – advertisement for a Clone Wars game for the Wii and Nintendo DS in the instruction booklet for LEGO Indiana Jones. Expect to learn more at CloneWarsGame.com eventually.
EU newbits: Comics, games, and The Clone Wars
- Comics: DarkHorse.com has previews for Dark Times #11/Vector part 5 and Rebellion #14.
- Gaming: EU Cantina has an interview with LucasArts’ voice director David Collins.
- The Clone Wars: io9 asks what it would take to get you excited about The Clone Wars. My answer: Nothing. No matter what they do, it’s still the Clone Wars, isn’t it? Been there, done that.
Names named: Secret apprentice, Jabba’s son
NZ Gamer revealed that Vader’s secret apprentice in The Force Unleashed is Starkiller, a name drawn from the early drafts of the first Star Wars script. Now, is that first name, last name, or both? (They also reveal why TFU is a no-go for the PC.)
UPDATE: EUC contacted LucasArt’s Adam Kahn, who told them:
I can confirm that “Starkiller” is the Secret Apprentice’s code name in the game, but we haven’t revealed his real name.
EU Cantina also spotted a little something: Jabba’s son, who plays the role of kidnappee/plot point in The Clone Wars, is given the name ‘Stinky’ by the Amazon.co.uk summary of Watch Out for Jabba the Hutt!. Indeed.
Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, May 3!
There’s no better time to visit your local comic book store than Free Comic Book Day, aka this Saturday. Although there are no Star Wars titles this year, there will be miniatures from WOTC.
And it’s as good a time as any to try a Star Wars comic or two – I’d recommend going for trades – the first two Legacy graphic novels are out, and Star Wars Tales is always a good bet. (Yes, you can get them at Borders or B&N, but most comic book stores are independently run and could use the support.) Comic fans, what would you recommend?
io9 gets peek at The Force Unleashed
Chad Vader is voicing Vader? Jimmy Smits shows up? A few tidbits, but mostly a quick overview of the game’s characters and a bit on the music.
Mace Windu and Mara Jade in The Force Unleashed?
The hell? This isn’t funny, LucasArts. (Also: Anakin Skywalker as a playable character. Is there simply a random duel mode on this thing or something?)
Expanded Universe newsbits
- Insider: Rebelscum reports that the latest issue is shipping now; cover promises ‘the essential Expanded Universe.’ Riiiight.
- Holonet News: Pablo shares the original pitch for the pre-Clone Wars news source.
- RPG: StarWars.com gives us a look at WOTC’s Threats of the Galaxy, which comes out next month.
Expanded Universe newsbits: Comics, NRW, TFU
- Comics: Two more previews at DarkHorse.com: Legacy #23 and a Clone Wars photo comic. (That’s Tartakovsky Clone Wars – but can they call it a photo comic if there are no photos?)
- Gaming: Catch up with the latest The Force Unleashed and SoulCalibur IV news over at GameTrailers.com.
- Fandom: The TFN boards are wrapping up National RetCon Week.
So a farmboy, a Jedi, and a Cylon walk into a bar…
It’s Friday, April 11th, and that means one thing: A New Hope is airing on Spike tonight at 8/7C. (Okay, two things: a new episode of Battlestar Galactica at 10/9C.)
Gamers will also want to tune back in to Spike at midnight for GameTrailers TV, which will be showing another The Force Unleashed preview (“the world premiere of the duel mode in the Wii”) and SoulCalibur IV game footage of Yoda and Vader. (You can also catch all that at GameTrailers.com later.)
And don’t forget to vote in our poll on if you’re watching the movies on Spike! It expires Sunday night.
Gate Geek – Continuing on to Continuum
So GateWorld got to go to the preview of Stargate: Continuum, last week. They post their (I’m sure spoilery, but I’m not looking) comments and teases on their site.
In other sneak preview news, WarCry Network got to look at the Stargate Worlds MMO and they seem to like it! It has been getting a bit of buzz outside of Stargate circles, so something must be brewing.
Back to the Stargate movies, that amazing soundtrack for The Ark of Truth is being released by the composer, himself. (via)
