A VERY iffy but extremely interesting Episode IX rumor has emerged this weekend, and it’s of particular interest to long-time readers of our site. This is SUPER SKETCHY information, from a Youtuber no less, but it’s also something I don’t feel I can ignore. Head under the cut for possible (or not, it’s that sketchy) spoilers, and some additional thoughts.
Get the Last Shot con edition at Phoenix Comic Fest
The Last Shot con edition is heading to Phoenix Comic Fest (PHXCF), which takes place May 24-27 in Arizona.
Each copy has an exclusive cover (above) and is signed by author Daniel Jose Older (who’ll be in attendance,) and comes with a Peeka pin and a tote bag. It’ll cost $45 and does require picking up a wristband. There will also be copies at Denver Comic Con in June.
Other Star Wars authors at the con include Jason Fry, Rae Carson, Delilah S. Dawson, Chuck Wendig, Alan Dean Foster, and R.A. Salvatore.
Review: Last Shot is fast, fun, and a little bit silly (as it should be)
I think they’re getting the hang of this new Expanded Universe.
We’re several years into the new canon now, but it’s been curious to watch how the books (and comics) have changed from our first tentative steps with A New Dawn. It might be no less a balancing act, but it feels like everything is both settling into a rhythm and not afraid to try something new.
Last Shot is the latest example of how the novels are able to both enhance the films (in this case, Solo, mostly) and stand on their own as complete stories.

New Last Shot excerpt with Lando, L3-37
StarWars.com is back with our third Last Shot excerpt – this one featuring a pre-Solo Lando Calrissian and L3-37.
The first two excerpts were Han with baby Ben, and Han with Sana Starros. Last Shot, by Daniel José Older, will be out in hardcover and eBook on April 17.
Star Wars out this week: Thrawn, Darth Vader comics
Just two comics coming out on Wednesday, April 11: Thrawn #3 and Darth Vader #14.
Next week, though, brings the year’s first all-new novel: Daniel José Older’s Last Shot, which will tie into Solo. It’s the first of the Solo books, with the rest due out on the film’s release date of May 25. Check out our release schedule for the lineup.
New Last Shot excerpt with Sana Starros
Our second excerpt from Daniel José Older’s Last Shot – the Solo tie-in novel – features Sana Starros. Starros first appeared in Marvel’s Star Wars comic back in 2015, and has been a regular in the comics ever since. Last Shot will be her first time in a novel.
The first excerpt, from March, is a moment of Han with baby Ben. Last Shot will be out in hardcover and eBook on April 17.
Star Wars out this week: New vehicle guide
There’s one middle grade reference book, one comic and two trades being released this week. First up, on Tuesday, April 3, is the Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles by Landry Q. Walker.
Then, on Wednesday, April 4, head to your favorite comic venue for Star Wars #46 or the latest trade in the series, Ashes of Jedha, which collects #38-43. Marvel is also shipping a hardcover collection of their 40th anniversary cover art, if that’s your bag.
