Because we have a Star Wars schedule. The Clone Wars, The Old Republic and the Fate of the Jedi (with all three authors!) panels are all on Friday. And so is the Star Wars Spectacular, which basically means that all the ‘breaking news’ from it will already be public by the time it’s shown on G4. Nice, by which I mean something unprintable.
Death Troopers promo art from Galaxies
Havac on TheForce.Net boards spotted this zombierific poster. Since a tie-in with the MMO is planned, this isn’t totally out of the blue. Check out the poster beneath the cut.
UPDATE: Galaxies’ ‘Death Troopers Adventure Series.’ Continue reading “Death Troopers promo art from Galaxies“
Fate of the Jedi: Omen on the bestseller lists
The second Fate of the Jedi book has, like its predecessor, staked out spots on the various bestseller lists. It comes it at #32 on USA Today, #3 on Publisher’s Weekly, and last but by no means least, #5 on the almighty New York Times. (via)
Invasion #1 reviews and interviews
So the new comic debuted last week, and both NJOE and IGN have reviews, while Dark Horse has an interview with creators Tom Taylor and Colin Wilson.
I was fairly underwhelmed with it, but that’s pretty much par for the course with Dark Horse… I’ll just have to wait and see how it pans out.
EUbits: Making of ESB, Karpyshyn, Kemp, Bohnhoff and Fixer’s pie in the sky
Street date shuffle: NJOE notes that The Making of The Empire Strikes Back release date has been moved up to March 23. That’s what Amazon says, anyway.
Interviews: EUC talks a bit of Darth Bane with Drew Karpyshyn.
The blogside: Paul S. Kemp has a brief Crosscurrent update, while Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff explores sci-fi story weaving and hardware.
What Fixer comic? Since I know you’re all dying to hear about that Fixer comic, the artist, Kevin Liell, has posted at TFN clarifying some things from NYCC. I’d still file this one under ‘long shot.’
Randy Stradley on Invasion, Legacy and more
Galactic Binder nabbed Dark Horse Star Wars editor Randy Stradley to talk comics (mostly Invasion, naturally.) I’m particularly approving of this bit:
Do not recycle dialogue from the motion pictures (unless, of course, you’re flashing back to an actual scene from one of the films). There is no need—ever—for another Star Wars character to say, “I have a bad feeling about this,” or “I find your lack of faith disturbing,” etc. Ditto for insertions of the “THX-1138” designation. After thirty years this sort of thing has been done to death.
Be sure to read through to the end, though, as there’s a hint down there that’s sure to make a lot of folks happy.
Out this week: The Invasion begins
Miracle of miracles, Invasion #1 is actually shipping on time. Look for it at your local comic store on Wednesday.
Poll: Your thoughts on Fate of the Jedi: Omen
So Christie Golden’s first foray into the GFFA and the second book of the latest series has been out for nearly a week now… Time to put up the book poll.
But first, here are a few reviews from out and around the web: TheForce.Net staff, EU Cantina, Big Shiny Robot, Starlog, Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review, and NJOE. Or get down with the unwashed masses at the TFN Lit’s official review thread. I haven’t read any of them yet: I won’t until after I do my own review in a few days, so forgive me the simple listing.
Weigh in yourself with the mystical power of click beneath the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Your thoughts on Fate of the Jedi: Omen“
Tidbits from Random House’s fall catalog
Random House’s fall catalog is now available to the pixel-soaked masses, and there’s not a ton of news in it… Mostly the standard publicity stuff: Author podcasts, convention appearances, 501st marketing events.
- Death Troopers (page 113) will have a fan cover design contest and a special cover with a full-color poster on the reverse. (The winning entry to the contest, perhaps?)
- Another free e-story will be coming with Fate of the Jedi: Abyss (page 107.)
- The Complete Vader (page 111) will.. uhh.. be shrink-wrapped? You’re probably better off looking at StarWar.com’s preview pages.
- Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil has the same blurb we saw with the cover announcement. It’s hanging out on page 115.
Keep in mind this catalog copy is done fairly early on, so all this is subject to change… And no, there’s nothing Star Wars in the trade paperback catalog – the next Clone Wars book isn’t due out until February.
Lifting really big rocks in Invasion #2
DarkHorse.com has the preview for Invasion #2, featuring our first look at the goings-on at Yavin IV… And man, Luke is a jerk. For those not NJO-inclined, there’s also a preview of the second Star Wars Adventures digest, Princess Leia and the Royal Ransom.
Invasion #1 is due out next week – Diamond willing – while Adventures is scheduled for August.
