Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
The book will “build off of the events of Crosscurrent,” he annouced on his Livejournal this morning. It’s too soon for details, but we don’t know all that much about Crosscurrent yet anyway: It won’t be out until January. I’d hazard to guess that we won’t see this second book until 2011 or so.
UPDATE 9/29: Sue Rostoni has confirmed that the book is on the schedule for June 2011, pushing the Reaves/Bohnhoff holostar novel up to March.
StarWars.com has posted two short story reprints in the last week or so: Patricia A. Jackson’s ‘The Longest Fall’ and Patricia A. Jackson & Charlene Newcomb’s ‘Betrayal By Knight.’
Crafting corner. There are two Mara Jade items in this roundup, and here’s the first one. Rebecca aka Sorakirei, whose first lightsaber scarf we featured earlier in the month, has another made another one. The Mara Jade lightsaber scarf was a commission – could it be from one of our readers? It’s a big internet… She’s also done a ROTJ Luke saber since we last looked…

(Since I’ve actually, like, read a lot of them. Imagine that. The New Rebellion, are your ears stinging yet?)
Oh, Cracked. ‘Retarded’ is not a word we use. Still, one has to give them a bit of credit for looking the most horrific aspects of the EU (Sorry, Death Troopers) full on in the face. I suspect this list was compiled by someone who spent an hour or two on the Wook and not an actual reader, because how else could any reader forget the golden magnificence and ultimate WTFness of Waru?
And here I thought there’d be nothing to post today… A brief excerpt of Death Troopers when we have nearly a month until the release date? I’ll take it.

If you were a kid when A New Hope was first released (we’re talking ol’ fart fans), then chances are that The Mystery of the Rebellious Robot holds a tender place in your heart.
Writer John Booth tracked down one of its creators, Mark Corcoran, for an interview on its 25th anniversary. He has updated it for the 30th. An interesting look at what was going on during that era. (via)

Letter from Dr. Zahara Cody, Chief Medical Officer, to her father, Teef Lan Cody:
Dear Dad:
I’m writing to you instead of Mother because I hope you’ll understand what I’m about to say in the context that it’s intended. I’ve given a lot of thought to what you said and I’ve reluctantly come to the conclusion that you’re right.
Consequently I’m resigning my post here after this mission is complete and will be coming back to (REDACTED) to take my place in the (REDACTED) organization.
I certainly don’t regret the choices that brought me this far. Working for Imperial Corrections, I’ve gained invaluable life experiences and learned more about myself than I’d ever imagined. But events have unfolded here aboard the Purge in the past few weeks that have forced me to reevaluate my priorities.
So I will see you and Mom soon. I hope to be back aboard a transport headed to the Core Worlds by next week’s end. It may take a bit longer. There’s something wrong with our engines. But I’m sure it will be fixed soon enough.
