Editor Erich Schoeneweiss gives us the full roster of upcoming short stories for the Star Wars Insider, including a Jag and Jaina story from Christie Golden. And if you don’t see anything you like, they are asking what you’d like to see…
EUbits: What a long, hard Fate it’s been
The blogside. Over at Tosche Station, Brian has a two-part retrospective of Fate of the Jedi. The series has garnered some mixed reviews, but overall I have to agree with some of Brian on this one, particularly regarding Luke/the Jedi, the arc-welding in Abeloth’s backstory, and the overall issues with Denning. Brian’s also revised his review of Apocalypse.
Warfare fallout. Jason Fry has posted his endnotes for The Essential Guide to Warfare in three parts, while his co-author Paul Urquhart writes (naturally) about the wackier side of the book at Suvudu.
Interviews. EU Cantina talks to comic writer Tom Taylor about his upcoming Darth Maul mini-series, Invasion, and Boba Fett is Dead. Meanwhile, Newsarama has John Ostrander to discuss Dawn of the Jedi in some detail.
Whoops! I caught the release date change for Lost Tribe of the Sith: The Collected Stories last week, but not that it had changed formats from paperback to trade paperback. Guess someone likes the Sith…
WTF of the week. Kevin J. Anderson invented the Killiks. Of course he did.
Reviews. James enjoys the unexpected trickery in Knights of the Old Republic – War #4 and is satisfied (sort of) by the big ending of Agent of the Empire – Iron Eclipse #5.
Out this week: Dawn of the Jedi #3
Just one new release this week: Dawn of the Jedi #3, though also shipping are reprints of #1 and #0.
The next book release is coming up next week, with Jeff Grubb’s Hutts-and-Jedi tale Scourge available on the 24th. Oddly, the Star Wars Books folks are having a chat for the book this week… I don’t think we’ll be recapping it, though we’ll be sure to link you to someone who does.
Don’t Trust the Bib in Booth 23: Best #StarWars and #SWEU tweets for the past week
If the “B” in “Don’t Trust the B_ in Apartment 23” stood for “Bib Fortuna,” then MAYBE I would watch it.

Watching West Coast Customs build a Darth Vader car for Lucasfilm. Can’t help but think @jediagent would have loved this.

Can’t wait to see this…
Hate visiting my Rodian cousin. He smells funny, never shuts up, and always insists on shooting first #SecondaryWorldProblems #StarWars

#SecondaryWorldProblems is THE hashtag from this weekend that you need to check out. Great stuff in there.
BREAKING: North Korea’s rocket has failed. Farm boy in X-Wing spotted fleeing scene. #StarWars

Current event tweet of the week! Unless you count Monday’s episode of How I Met Your Mother…
Miller’s Insider story features Myri Antilles
Read Karen Miller’s Myri Antilles short story that will appear in SW Insider 135 last night. Fun read, really dug it. #SWEU@Darth_Duff
— StarWarsBooks (@DelReyStarWars) April 12, 2012
As previously alluded, it appears that the short story by Clone Wars Gambit author Karen Miller will indeed tie-in to August’s Mercy Kill.
(Just read the Myri Antilles story and it’s a lot of fun!)
— Jennifer Heddle (@jenheddle) April 12, 2012
Myri Antilles was confirmed as one of the new Wraiths last year. The youngest daughter of Wedge Antilles and Iella Wessiri Antilles, Myri made her adult debut in the Legacy of the Force series.
Recap: Jason Fry on The Essential Guide to Warfare
There was another Star Wars Books chat today, this time with Jason Fry (and, via proxy, co-author Paul Urquhart) on The Essential Guide to Warfare. Chats for this type of continuity-baiting books do tend to be a tad calmer than for the big fiction books, so I’ll do a more straightforward recap.
However, because some of the questions touch on some fairly obscure parts of the EU, I have added a few notes and Wookiepedia links where called for. Be cautious: There may be spoilers in the links.
Head beneath the cut to check it out!

Out this week: Agent of the Empire, KOTOR: War
On Wednesday, Agent of the Empire closes out its first arc with Iron Eclipse #5, while Knights of the Old Republic: War #4 heads into its own conclusion. Apparently Captain Trips has struck the GFFA? Or maybe they just need more cowbell.
Our next book release, in two weeks, will be Jeff Grubb’s Scourge. Hutts! Whoo. Maybe they’ll have Captain Trips, too.
EUbits: Maul and Savage and the open road
Of course. There’s a Darth Maul comic coming. Darth Maul: Death Sentence #1 will launch July 25 and feature Maul and his brother Savage Opress roaming the galaxy in a beat-up light freighter and solving mysteries. Well, I made up the bit about the freighter. And the mysteries. Everything else is true! Sort of.
Confirmation, non-fiction. It’s not available yet, but Rancho Obi-wan has added the new Steve Sansweet book, Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection: 35 Years of Characters. It’s co-authored by Anne Neumann and noted fan photographer Dan Curto.
Confirmation, fiction. Looks like they’re moving ahead with a third character guide. Expect a totally new different-looking Ben Skywalker!
Street date shuffle. Feel like some super minor schedule news? Lost Tribe of the Sith: The Collected Stories has moved up a week, from July 31 to the 24th. Exciting!
Pretty. Knights Archive spotted the cover for Star Wars Art: Illustration on Amazon. There’s a Yoda on it: Bitches love Yoda.
Kids. Snark aside, Darth Vader and Son looks kind of cute. Sadly, we will never see a ‘Mommy and Me’ version of this, unless you count The Phantom Menace, and I wouldn’t. It’ll be out any minute now.
Unsung heroes of the Rebellion: Best #StarWars and #SWEU tweets for the past week
Three prequels, and Lucas still hasn’t given us any backstory on Manny Bothans, hero of the rebellion.
— Sarah Van Hollebeke (@sarahgay) April 5, 2012
Can’t believe nerds still talk about what went wrong with the SW prequels. Let’s switch to obsessing over fixing the Wolverine movie.

George Lucas says there will never be a new Star Wars? But we already get a new Star Wars every few years! #RevisionOfTheJedi

The more I do these posts, the more it seems almost like a recap of the week in question… Holidays, Dancing Han angst, James Cameron snarking and more beneath the cut!

Star Wars Books passes Facebook milestone, celebrates with teases for Scoundrels, Reader’s Companion
To celebrate passing 30,00 fans, the Star Wars Books Facebook page gave us three previews today.
The first is four sketches for Pablo Hidalgo’s Essential Reader’s Companion, our first look at the interior artwork. I suspect they’re all from early on: One is from Darth Bane: Path of Destruction and the rest are from various books set in the prequel era.
The second is a lengthy (well, for Facebook, meaning it’s bigger than the usual ‘mini-excerpts’) bit from Timothy Zahn’s Scoundrels featuring Han, Chewbacca, and an (apparently) brand-new character.
The third and final gift is a three-page excerpt of Jeff Grubb’s Scourge, which will be out later this month.
