Entertainment Weekly covers our biggest new players from Solo: A Star Wars Story: Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Beckett, Thandie Newton’s Val and Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos.
Tobias Beckett is, as we’ve been told, a mentor figure to Han – a slightly unwilling one, it seems. Lawrence and Jon Kasdan drew on Treasure Island (the book, you nerds) for his relationship with Han.
Beckett and Val “been partners a long time,” Kathleen Kennedy says. It seems she’s a bit frostier to him than Beckett, but evolves in “interesting direction,” Jon Kasdan says.
Seems that crime boss Dryden Vos is a lot less gritty than the first two – though probably far more dangerous.
“It’s a sort of combination of class and swagger and real danger which I think is a fun thing, and he absolutely inhabits it,” says Jon Kasdan. “He’s way deeper in the crime world than anyone else that we meet in the movie.”
And no, he’s not related to Quinlan Vos, the Legends EU character who was one of the first to make to jump to canon way back during The Clone Wars. (Back before Legends was Legends, to make things really confusing.)
Also, something about a possible Boba Fett cameo, because of course there might be a Boba Fett cameo.
