They made it!

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have completed their amazing John O’ Groats, Scotland to Cape Agulhas, South Africa motorcycle journey. That’s some 15,000 miles in 85 days. And they’re still alive!

There will be a series! It’ll be airing on BBC Two in the fall. Hopefully the rest of the world will get it some time after that. And there are certain to be DVDs.

Ewan and Charley yet still alive!

Intrepid travellers Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have made it to South Africa, the final border crossing on their three month trip from northern Scotland to southern Africa. Woot!

Standing next to the border sign, Ewan yells their destination.

‘Look where we’ve got to, look! ‘Welcome to South Africa’! We’re in South Africa, we made it! We made it all the way down from John O’ Groats to our last border crossing into South Africa. Well done mate!’

‘Well done,’ replies Charley. ‘It’s been an incredible journey really. It’s just, fourteen countries!’

Don’t miss the video to the right of the pictures, where they literally skip to the border.

“Guys and Dolls” rolls on

“Guys and Dolls” seems to be in good hands with newcomers Sarah Lancashire and Nigel Harman receiving generally good reviews.

Harman admits that taking over for McGregor left him with “big shoes to fill”:

“He (McGregor) wrote me a note on my mirror which I kept on there which said ‘brother Harman, you’re dice’, which is kind of a variation of a line from the show which is brilliant,” he said.

The play is currently taking bookings through September 2006.

Browncoats to close

Browncoats will close on January 6, 2006.

An email to members reads:

Browncoats,

We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty!

Serenity was the #1 DVD upon its release! This was a huge success that would not have happened without the support and dedication of The Browncoats. On behalf or Universal, I would like to thank you all for everything you have done to promote Serenity.

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that on January 6, 2006, The Browncoats will shut down. We have had some wonderful times over these 19 months: met people from around the world, had interesting discussions about Serenity and every topic under the sun on the message boards, had lots of laughs (

Wookieepedia

A great find from Deet:

Wookieepedia.

Many of you may be familiar with the idea of a wiki. It’s an open-source, community-driven and produced encyclopedia-like site that draws on the knowledge of the general public. The most prevalent example is the Wikipedia, a site which not only has become a go-to starting point for information seekers but has also evolved into a great source for news.

Well there is now a wiki-powered resource for all things Star Wars. The Wookieepedia (an excellent name) is your all-inclusive site for everything you might need to know. All aspects of the Star Wars universe are covered, from the movies, the novels and even the Marvel Comics series. One of the great things about wikis is their power to connect events, and in the case of Star Wars that’s a great thing to have at your hands. An event from a recent book might have been related to something that happened in a comic book years ago. The events might not connect to you, but someone here has it covered.
