I want to believe…

… the new X-Files movie won’t suck. I’m not holding my breath though. In any case, I couldn’t resist the lure of the viral videos posted on io9 where Moose and Squirrel discuss their feelings for each other (warning: could be seen as spoiler-ish).

Lost kicks ass

Yeah, yeah, I know Lost had a weak season two and that season three was uneven, but for those of us who stuck with it, season four is the pay off. Anyway, a couple of articles of interest. The first about Locke and the second, um, well, mostly about Locke too and a bit of Ben.

Mary wants your crafting nightmares!

A message from the Mighty Mary Franklin:

I am writing my Bantha Tracks editorial to go with a “Craft” theme, and have decided to write about great Star Wars craft ideas gone all to hell. I know we have some great stories in Club Jade alone! PG and Yav’s “Twin Suns of Corellia” costume, for example, or Jar Jar the F*&*^#g Pinata.

Please send me a brief story and pictures of your Star Wars crafts gone wrong to banthatracks@starwars.com

To meet my deadline for Insider magazine, please send by tomorrow (Tuesday) night. However, if I get a lot of good stories like this I will do a special feature in Bantha Tracks Online, too! Thanks! Jessa.

del Toro and his furry-footed friends

IMAGE: Bilbo, Bilbo BagginsWhile most seem happy, not every Ringer is thrilled that del Toro will be directing The Hobbit and its yet to be determined sequel (that might or might not fill in the space between The Hobbit and the start of the Lord of the Rings trilogy).

Andrew O’Hehir over on Salon is vexed that del Toro, a man who once told him he doesn’t like swords and sorcery, let alone “little guys and dragons, hairy feet, hobbits,” will helm the effort to bring Tolkien’s classic book to life. Kristin Thompson, of The Frodo Franchise fame, disagrees.

Meanwhile, on MTV, del Toro seeks to reassure fans and talks about his vision of the project. And, no, he won’t tell you how Smaug will appear.

Potterverse update

The Hollywood Reporter reports that it’s tough to say how the whole Harry Potter Lexicon case will go because fair use is complicated. No, really?

The U.S. news program 20/20 will air a special featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the life of J.K. Rowling in November.

Daniel Radcliffe is seeking a mysterious Aussie who caught his eye at a film event Down Under. Shockingly, there seems to be no shortage of mystery women. He claims it was all a joke.

Speaking of Radcliffe, his latest film My Boy Jack aired on PBS’ Masterpiece last weekend. Yes, it might have been more convenient if we told you about this before it aired, but it will probably be repeated throughout the week. In this article, Radcliffe and co-star Kim Cattrall (also known as Samantha on Sex and the City) discuss growing up, Harry Potter and, you guessed it, sex (in the city, anyway).

Potter, Potter, and more Potter

Amazon.com is hosting a writing contest in which the winner will get a trip to London and the chance to read a handwritten and illustrated copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Don’t delay. The deadline to enter is April 22.

Equus, featuring a naked Harry Potter (OK, Daniel Radcliffe), will begin previews on Broadway in New York on September 5. Opening night is September 25.

And, finally, German Potter fans will apparently be treated to a line of “Halbblut Prinz” yarn for socks and sweaters. If my German is right, it will be available in September and will sell for about 10 Euros a ball.
