His nerdiness has never been much of a secret, but pictures of President Obama with a toy lightsaber on the South Lawn Wednesday afternoon have stormed the internet! Fear not, there were real fencers and other athletes on hand – it was all an effort to promote Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

Cracked looks at the worst of the EU, yet forgets Waru
Oh, Cracked. ‘Retarded’ is not a word we use. Still, one has to give them a bit of credit for looking the most horrific aspects of the EU (Sorry, Death Troopers) full on in the face. I suspect this list was compiled by someone who spent an hour or two on the Wook and not an actual reader, because how else could any reader forget the golden magnificence and ultimate WTFness of Waru?
StarWars.com has a Death Troopers excerpt
And here I thought there’d be nothing to post today… A brief excerpt of Death Troopers when we have nearly a month until the release date? I’ll take it.
On a related note, Super Punch is having a Horror of Star Wars art contest.

Brace yourselves for the full firepower of Universal’s Harry Potter theme park
Details of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are out, and guys? J.K. Rowling is going to be so much richer. Sorry Disney, but I think it’ll take more sprucing than The Little Mermaid and Star Tours 2 to compete with this.
You can get a closer look at some of the concept art here.
EUbits: Complete Vader, draw Clone Wars, Atlas, the complete Purge letters, Bohnhoff, databank, mocking
Nonfiction corner. StarWars.com talks to Ryder Windham and Pete Vilmur about The Complete Vader. On a related note, take a peek at Draw Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Death Troopers. Did you catch all the Purge letters? No? Well, here are the direct links: DeathTroopers.com, StarWars.com, Star Wars Action News, NJOE, RebelScum, TheForce.net, and ours.
Podcasts. Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace are on the latest Fictional Frontiers with Sohaib. (Warning: auto-pla.)
Blogsided. Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff on the pool of knowledge and Star Wars as part of the vernacular.
Ye Olde Databank. New or expanded entries for Jocasta Nu, Cad Bane, and Cato Parasitti. And hey – Ben Skywalker is in there now. That’s new! Newish. Wait, don’t tell me: They added him with the Backlash cover, didn’t they?
Sweet mockery. Checked in with We Hav to Take a Trip with Jacen Solo lately? Havac is currently working his way through Legacy of the Force.
Star Wars: In Concert adds east coast dates
StarWars.com has some fall dates for Star Wars: In Concert, mostly in the south and creeping up: Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Not quite as spread out as the west coast dates, but I suspect we’ll see more of New England in the next round. Tickets will go on sale Friday, September 25.
Bonnie the Hutt storms San Francisco, or at least part of it
Who dares take the Jabba the Hutt costume out on a test run? Bonnie does. For science! Or something.
First blurb for Clone Wars Gambit – Siege sighted
NJOE found the first blurb for Karen Miller’s Clone Wars Gambit – Siege at Amazon.co.uk. (Where else?) It contains some (possible) spoilers for the yet-unreleased first part, Stealth, so it’s black-barred below the cut. Continue reading “First blurb for Clone Wars Gambit – Siege sighted”
