We’ve enjoyed a rather happy day today. Aaron Allston sends a statement to everyone.
It’ll be a long road to recovery. Please keep sending up your prayers… vibes… thoughts… whatever.

So it turns out that the maker of ThinkGeek’s most talked-about April Fool’s prank, the tauntaun sleeping bag, is actually a friend of CJ’s own Rach. She didn’t come up with the concept, but she did assemble it, and you can check out the photos at her Flickr.
And yes, in case you haven’t heard, the response was so positive that ThinkGeek is looking into licensing it for real!
Lost has been doing it with reruns for at least the last season, and now The Clone Wars will be adding some Pop-Up Video-style tidbits as it reruns. The enhanced episodes will begin airing May 1.
Well, maybe not quite… But the film has finished casting and is now in production!

NJOE is organizing a massive “Get Well” Project for Aaron Allston. They’re asking for everything to be in the mail to them by this upcoming Saturday!
In other news, Suvudu has a message from Aaron Allston’s family.
The second Stargate Universe teaser aired on Friday. Very heavy on the drama and emotion. Even though this is a “grittier” show, they’d best show some humor soon or the fan base will get even grouchier than they already are.
Over on GateWorld, coverage of the Friday events at the Vancouver convention is up.
And I should probably hand this over to Dunc for her ongoing series on fandom cakes, but it was too cute for me to pass up: Stargate cakes! (via)
Although he’s had a bit of a rough time of it, we’re finally seeing some signs of improvement in Aaron Allston after his heart attack and subsequent bypass surgery.
His family and friends have established a LiveJournal community as a central place to update everyone on his condition. As his sister posted here:
I just spoke to our mother and she did report that he is doing better (but there’s a long way up) and one of the major things they’re facing right now is what you might call an outpouring of love in excess of the ability to process it all.
One of his good friends has posted all the details of all that’s happened in the past week. (You do not need to be a member of LiveJournal to read the page.)
As a reminder, there is an ongoing blood drive for those in the state of Texas. Each time someone donates, Aaron gets a credit on his bill. In addition, you get to save someone’s life. So please consider it if you live in the Lonestar State.
Seriously! Check out this quote:
I mean, I was literally playing Dungeons and Dragons with Judi Dench and Karl Urban at nights after shooting. I will tell you that I was showing her Dungeons and Dragons books and showing her the different properties of Elementals. Call me crazy.
He taught Dame Judi Dench to play D&D. Just goes to show… You never know.
This poll has been up on the sidebar since Tuesday, but in the whirlwind of April Fools and everything else I forgot to actually make a post about it. In any case, now is your chance to click and pick what you thought of the first book of the Fate of the Jedi series, Aaron Allston’s Outcast. Register your vote – if you haven’t already – under the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Your thoughts on Outcast“
