Artist Grant Gould announced on his blog yesterday evening that he’ll be working on Draw The Clone Wars Characters with Lucasfilm’s Bonnie Burton.
Star Wars returns to Free Comic Book Day
Dark Horse is among the Gold Sponsors for next year’s Free Comic Book Day, and their offering will feature “the greatest heroes of The Clone Wars,” inside and on one of the comic’s two covers. It’s not a dedicated Star Wars issue, but this is the first time since 2006 that the franchise has had a spotlight. 2009’s Free Comic Book Day is set for Saturday, May 2.
Parenthood in the Galaxy Far, Far Away
Our pal the Stooge gets his parenting meta hat on to explore the Good and Bad Fathers and Good and Bad Mothers of Star Wars… with a bookend surprise! (It’s also his birthday!)
Beware of failbots playing delusional Sith lords
A man trying to rob an Arkansas gas station by sneaking through the bathroom ceiling told police that his name was “Jason Solo” before fingerprints revealed his true identity. (via)
EFX X-Wing more than enough to impress
I’m obviously no collector, but if I was the type to shell out a ridiculous amount of money for a Star Wars collectible, the EFX Red 5 seems worth the bother. Kinda wish I knew someone crazy enough to buy it just so I could touch one, because you know that stuff will be behind glass at cons. Sigh. (More pics at Gizmodo.)
EUbits: Stover and Harrison interviews, Rebel Force, everyone has a canon position
Matthew Stover and That Upcoming Luke Novel. There are only 21 days to Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, and Bookspot Central has a lengthy interview with Stover.
There’s plenty about his infuences, the Caine books, and of course, Star Wars, starting about halfway. (via)
- Comics: There’s another interview over at CBR, this one with Dark Times writer Mick Harrison; The Clone Wars: Crash Course preview.
- Titles: SWbooks noticed that Rebel Force #3 is Renegade on Amazon. (via)
- Hot topic: People sure have strong feelings about canon… I don’t know why this surprises me.
The Clone Wars: Whose house? Greevy’s house!
In this Friday’s new episode, ‘Lair of Grievous,’ Kit Fisto comes over for tea! Well, maybe not tea.
Gate Geek – Get over it, people
Gate fans are a notoriously picky bunch with (let’s face it) a lot of drahmah and gnashing of teeth about where they want to see the story go and what they want for “their” characters.
Now that Atlantis is coming to a close, the writers appear to be speaking out a bit about the fan complaints; explaining the twists and turns that plot lines and characters can take in a show’s development. And, basically, telling people to get over it.
Martin Gero (who seems to get the most love-it-or-hate-it reactions to his episodes) talks to GateWorld about the reactions people have to his stories. (You need to get past the discussion of YPF, first, though.) And takes the fans to task for their treatment of Keller.
And Joe Mallozzi talks about everyone’s ships, the gay storyline that would have happened if only the episode hadn’t run long, and why things have gone the way they have.
Drive-by movie news: Too much Twilight, Harrison Ford, Batman, WB’s Potter desperation
Not so shiny. Catherine Hardwicke is out of Twilight sequel. (Robert Pattinson’s envy must be at least twice the size of glitter budget.)
Of course, the real interest for many of us is the book’s numerous creepy undertones. And finally, for funny Twilight news, aka the actual reason to bother reporting any of it, check out the puppet version.
- Someone has already gotten high and dreamed this movie. Among Harrison Ford’s upcoming projects is a J.J. Abrams comedy. The actual film sounds way too much like Anchorman to be of interest, but my mind is going to a place where there’s a buddy picture with Spy Daddy instead. Make that happen, J.J.
- Taking it slow on Batman sequel. Christopher Nolan still playing it coy on a third Bat-film, and who can blame him? Let’s just hope we avoid the X3 situation. Of course, who needs a sequel when they can just rerelease the ones they already have?
- WB running out of Harry, considers Beedle. With J.K. Rowling in no hurry to turn out more books to feather their money tree, Warner Brothers is supposedly thinking about adapting Beedle The Bard. Umm…
- The rest of the garbage. Fanboys official site; No Jurassic Park 4; Beauty and the Beast 3-D in the works; Sigourney Weaver and the brewing Ghostbusters sequel?
Out this week: Complete Encyclopedia, Wild Space
This is a big week (literally) for Star Wars stuff: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia finally arrives in bookstores tomorrow, along with Karen Miller’s The Clone Wars: Wild Space. And on Wednesday, comic fans can pick up The Clone Wars #3, aka ‘the one where Anakin thinks a eyepatch is an effective disguise.’ If that’s what they teach in those fancy Jedi disguise classes, why bother with Order 66?
