I think… I think somewhere around 1:33 this became the greatest video ever. (via)
Review: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia
After going through practically every holiday since 1999 with some sort of “coffee table book” from the Star Wars franchise, you would think that I’d be mentally prepared for the weight associated with it. Well, I was fooled again with the latest edition of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. I nearly dropped the blasted thing (all 12 pounds of it — I weighed it) when I tried to pick it up.
Still, this baby’s beautiful! Three hardcover volumes in a shell. (Which is making it resemble, more and more The Encyclopedia Brittanica.) That beautiful Empire red and black coloring. Images subtly glowing out. Each hardcover has its own different cover design. Each book has its own quote for the dedication page. A lot of fun! It’s not The Musical Edition, but still cool
It’s been done a bit more amusingly as Star Wars: The Musical Edition. But now it’s officially being offered as a dramatic reading; accompanied by live orchestra and a full choir!
Star Wars: A Musical Journey will be opening in April before going all around Europe. Tickets go on sale Monday!
A great way to make your parents think you’re finally giving up your geek ways and going to see some culture by attending an orchestra performance.
Hey gamers: See The Old Republic in action!
LucasArts and Bioware debuted the first video documentary on the upcoming Old Republic MMO today, including some brand-new play footage.
Video: Silent Star Wars and a couple of friends
Blogged this way back, but it’s been making the rounds again and we’ve picked up a few readers since then so this is bound to be new to some. Check under the cut for two more silent-movie takes: Droid Soup and Steamboat Jedi. Continue reading “Video: Silent Star Wars and a couple of friends”
Luke’s lightsaber goes for $240,000 at auction
Someone either made a very good or a very bad investment today… The A New Hope lightsaber in the Profiles in History action sold for $240,000, while Threepio’s helmet went for half that. That’s not quite as much as the last high-priced Star Wars item, but it does beat another (or the same?) ANH saber, which went for $170,000 in 2005. (via)
The Clone Wars: It’s Friday and I have no clever
Tonight’s episode is ‘Lair of Grievous,’ which sounds kinda like a Scooby Doo episode. I’m not sure what that makes Kit Fisto, but considering who was present at Grievous’ debut it’s probably at least a little appropriate.
- Last week: I’m doing this earlier than usual, so ‘Cloak of Darkness’ isn’t up yet, but you’ll find it here when it does. In the meantime, watch the Takeuchi video!
- Webcomic: ‘The Dreams of General Grievous’ features all four artists and a peek at Grievous’ backstory.
- People: StarWars.com has Matthew Wood (Grievous) and Phil LaMarr (Kit Fisto.)
- Novels: Cover, blurb for book #3, Karen Traviss’ No Prisoners.
- Podcasts: EUC talks clones, while the Forcecast had Paul Dini and Kyle Newman.
- Spoilers: Guess who’s coming to The Clone Wars?
Video: Welcome to trainwreck syndrome
This video (Chris Dane Owens, “Shine”) is completely awful, yet disturbingly mesmerizing. Watch it. Then, go to Tor.com for a thrilling Choose-Your-Adventure guess at the plot!
Weird things on the Wookieepedia
Han Solo’s illegitimate daughter (maybe,) Danielle Kieran. Proving, if nothing else, that Harrison Ford would not look all that great in drag.
Remember the guy who changed his name to Obiwan?
Back around the release of The Phantom Menace, California’s Benjamin Cale Feit changed his name to Obiwan Kenobi… And almost a decade later, he’s still going by it.
