Five possible locations for Celebration V

Are Baltimore, Minneapolis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Orlando the finalists for Celebration V?

Yes, I saw this over the weekend, but I figured they were drawing that city list from the Force-Cast’s interview with Sansweet: Old news. Except… I didn’t type out that part. So lo, TFN made news of it (again, thus illustrating my number one issue with news and podcasts, but that’s another post) and it’s all over the internet.

Let the haggling, whining, and bitching begin (or continue.) Quite frankly, as long as it’s not Florida (or at least not Disney World) I don’t care.

Thursday at ComicCon

There’s plenty going on, but particularly of note:

8:30-10:00 Star Wars Fan Film Awards
It’s the galaxy-spanning return of a Comic-Con favorite! The Star Wars Fan Film Awards come back to Ballroom 20 as the Thursday night big event. Ballroom 20

Speaking of, voting on the Fan Movie Challenge finalists ends on Thursday. There’s also a Random House panel at 6:00, but with Betsy Mitchell the only familiar name present, I suspect they’ll save any Star Wars publishing news for a dedicated panel. (via)

UPDATE: Or not. Here’s what Sue Rostoni had to say about on the subject:

There will be a panel dedicated to The Clone Wars program, but not one on general fiction. Frank Parisi (LFL editor) and Carol Roeder (LFL director of publishing) will be on the panel along with Leland Chee and Henry Gilroy (writer of Dark Horse Clone Wars comics) and others. Pablo will moderate. I won’t be there this year.

I guess we’re probably not getting a Millennium Falcon cover or Fate of the Jedi announcement, then…

GateGeek – It’s Premiere Week!

It’s the time that makes the Stargate fan’s heart go pitter-pat.  (Hear it?)  Yes, Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis premieres in the US this Friday!

(Sure.  Some of you couldn’t wait and watched the leak.  But some of us have decided to wait and enjoy the suspense.)

This, of course, brings us all sorts of promotional goodies to enjoy:

Other Stargate stuff of note:

  • GateWorld has launched an image gallery with much nicer pictures
  • And there are lovely tributes to Don S. Davis in the LA Times and  E! (who appears to have a Stargate fan now working there)
