Just another Clone Wars Flash front piece, though… It’s pretty extensive, with actual content, including some pretty nice galleries (TFN spotted a pink R2,) a sharpshooter game, and more ‘coming soon’… But if you’re hoping for something other than The Clone Wars, no cigarra. Still, at least now we know they’re not just sitting around playing the new Grand Theft Auto.
I wouldn’t click that link at work, though – at least not before you mute your speakers.
Flashback: 14-year old Dave Lowe’s Revenge of the Jedi fan comic from 1980. There’s Luke/Leia kissing and sleeveless Vader! (via) In a more professional capacity, he also did some work for a Sci-Fi Channel Star Wars marathon back in 1993.
Galactica.tv showcases concept paintings done by Ralph McQuarrie for the original pilot script of Battlestar Galactica. Apparently the cylons were originally going to be the creation of an insect race? (via)
The LA Times did a Hollywood Backlot feature on the set of Stargate Atlantis from an episode shot in May. Lots of cool pictures. (If you don’t like to know who’s in an episode, then you might not want to go.)

And for those of you who follow Legacy in trade paperbacks, the Claws of the Dragon collection comes out as well. It’s a storyline you don’t want to miss.
So sayth the official blog this evening: Stover’s Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor has been moved back to December, and Luceno’s Millennium Falcon moved up to October. But the main focus of the post is a nice bit from artist Dave Seeley on the how and why of the image, and we get our first look at Mindor’s back cover – Lord Shadowspawn.
This is also the second time we’ve gotten a real news item via the blog… Interesting, no? (I suppose an all-Flash site would be mildly bearable if this method continues. Permalinks good!)

Numerous media outlets today reported the death of Stan Winston, the Oscar-winning special effects master whose work included Terminator, Jurassic Park, and Aliens. He was 62.
ILM’s Dennis Muren, who supervised Jurassic Park’s digital effects, told Variety:
“When you put (Winston’s creatures and digital effects) together, the audience was confused, and sometimes we were, too, about who had done what.
“But Stan had always said, ‘It shouldn’t be all one or all the other; it should be a combination of the two.'”

He briefly mention StarWars.com and ‘some changes…’ Does that, combined with the site’s recent radio silence (the last news item is dated May 29th, and even blogging has been sparse) mean the site is getting a real overhaul, as opposed to just another Flash splash page?
Just don’t make it all in Flash, please…
