TV Bits – Heroes and Chuck

Producers are starting to drop tidbits to get us all excited for the upcoming season.  (And I am all for that.)

It looks like Heroes is going to go for the more philosophical bent in the upcoming volume.  And E!’s Watch with Kristin has some dish on which cast members will be regulars and which will be floating.

And Kristin also finds out that our favorite nerd, Chuck, will get to see a bit more catfighting with the guest appearance of tabloid darling Nicole Richie.  (Yeah.  Really.)

We just have to hold out until the end of September!

Finally: The Clone Wars book announcement

With a month and a day to the first street date, LucasBooks and Del Rey have issued the press release, and now we know that five novels are coming! Karen Traviss and Karen Miller are the only authors named: no word on who, if anyone, will be joining them, or if the books are actual novelizations or side-stories… Though the plot description sounds familiar enough. In any case, we’re certain to get a lot more background on the Clone Wars.

See Steve Sansweet at Wizard World Chicago

He himself namedropped Chicago as a possible location for Celebration V, and the speculation to that effect has been flying fast and heavy ever since. So there’s a possibility that something might get announced or at least hinted at this weekend:

Gate Geek – One Big Happy

Since I’m a romantic sap, I’m going to kick off this week’s update with pictures from David Hewlett‘s wedding to The Lovely (TM) Jane Loughman.  Being a true geek, David knew the importance of getting coverage out online before horrible camera phone pictures snuck out.  Best wishes to them both!

More pictures, but this time of the official variety with the official promo shots for Season 5.

While Stargate Atlantis enjoys a hiatus before its July 11th return, the official site teases us about Continuum by posting a video touting the return of the great Richard Dean Anderson.

In the news: George goes to Washington, Red Tails, AT-AT urban legends, ILM

Yesterday, George Lucas spoke up for educational broadband at a Congressional hearing in his guise as chairman of the George Lucas Educational Foundation:

“Telecommunications provides the new learning platform of this century and is replacing the textbook as the medium through which a modern education is provided,” he said. “The world’s knowledge is now available online, far beyond what books and materials can provide in schools and libraries themselves.”

Poll: How much do you care about continuity?

Have you ever bemoaned a minor error in a novel as the end of Star Wars as we know it? Do clumsy retcons set you raging? Did the prequel’s Jossing of previously established EU elements make you seek therapy? Are you up all hours on TFN or Wookieepedia debating such things? If so, sometimes you scare even me, but it’s our latest poll nonetheless. Vote beneath the cut or on the sidebar. Continue reading “Poll: How much do you care about continuity?”
