The truth about Jar Jar Binks, or, George as an evil genius

What, messa worry?

Geekdad Matt Blum has proof that George Lucas is an evil genius. It makes as much sense as anything else these days:

My kids are pretty smart — I don’t like to brag, it’s just the truth. …So why, then, are they so drawn to a character that causes near-universal revulsion in those past puberty? Yes, exactly: Because George Lucas cleverly designed Jar Jar Binks so that kids would love him but adults would hate him. Why would he do that? Because it’s part of an evil scheme to take over the world, of course.

Of course! It’s so obvious!

  1. I don’t particularly like him, but I find it hard to get worked up about Jar Jar. He’s not worth the bother.

  2. I just think back to the time when everyone hated C3PO.

I actually don’t mind Jar-Jar all that much, either. But it is funny to see the veins of perfectly sane adults pop up on their foreheads at the mere mention of him.

  3. I like to tell all those Geration X people who hate Jar Jar that he wasn’t created for them. The prequel movies weren’t even created for them. They were created for us Gen Y kids. I was 9 when Episode I came out, it was perfect.
