Get your drink on with cocktails from Batuu

SyFy has another preview of the upcoming Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, and this time they’re cocktails! Only the Photon Fizzle calls for alcohol, but I’m sure the enterprising drinker could think of something to punch up the Hyperdrive. And for the other way around, sure seems like the Fizzle would work with a strong ginger ale in place of the ginger beer…

But I’m no bartender. Check out the recipes for yourself:

The cookbook is out on November 5. You can find the last set of recipes over this way.

How to make blue milk

blue-milk

I doubt this is new, but it’s the first I can recall hearing of it, so here you go: How to officially make blue milk. You’d think it would just be a matter of food coloring, but oh no: The reality is much more disgusting: It involves milk, ‘unsweetened blue fruit punch mix’ (uh, Kool-Aid?) and sugar. (You can still use food coloring. These folks did. Or, if you want to get all adult with it, here’s a version with Blue Curacao, amaretto, and coconut rum.)

In any case, thanks, @StarWars. New JadeCon rule: She who wakes up first has to drink the fruit punch version.

May the 4th: Star Wars Day drink recipes

Obi-Wan after a Mary drinkMost people know Mary Franklin as Lucasfilm’s Senior Events Lead extraordinaire who creates the awesome Celebrations we all love. (Along with tons of other events for the company.) But Club Jade knows that her true talent lies in her awesome bartending skills and ability to create awesome Star Wars-themed drinks.

So imagine how happy we were that she has agreed to share a couple of her top secret Star Wars cocktails with us in celebration of Star Wars Day.

The Double Mistryl
1 oz blended whiskey
1 oz gin
1 oz sweet and sour mix
Splash of maraschino cherry juice
Shake with ice; strain into lowball glass or ice or cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Sex with a Rodian
2 oz Midori Lemon Liqeur
1 oz sweet and sour mix
Shake together and pour into a lowball of ice
Gently pour in a 1/2 oz of Chambord — it will sink to the bottom
Float: A drizzle of Jaegermeister

As always, don’t overdo it. And be sure you have a designated Wookiee to drive you home after these. You’ll need it!

If you’re going to be the designated driver or if you, like me, aren’t a fan of alcohol, Kristen Hidalgo, who you might know as a key part of the Lucasfilm event team, uses her culinary past to create some fantastic mocktail recipes on the official blog, including improvements on Yoda Soda and Blue Milk.

Is it time for the party, yet?

Roundup: What’s been cooking at the Tumblr

So the CJ Tumblr is coming along. It was born from last-minute disappointment, but I’ve actually found it fairly useful for stuff that I just don’t have the time to really blog. (It’s the new fandom minute!) This week we’ve featured so far, among other things…
