Doctor Who’s Tom Baker coming to Star Wars?

Tom Baker with Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith in 2013's 'The Day of the Doctor'

Could Tom Baker, who played the Fourth Doctor on Doctor Who, be the second (official) Doctor to come to Star Wars? “I’m going to be in this new Star Wars thing, you know,” he told fans at a recent convention, per Sci-Fi Fantasy Network. “I’m going down to recording some voices for this new character they’ve created for me, very soon.”

The article references The Clone Wars, but a voice part makes me think the mostly likely answer is Rebels. Or, if you want to go a little further, he could be lending his voice to a character in Rogue One.

One of Baker’s Doctor Who successors, Tenth Doctor David Tennant, voiced a droid on The Clone Wars in 2012.

Rumor: Steven Moffat offered a Star Wars movie?

UPDATE: Moffat’s wife and Sherlock co-producer Sue Vertue has denied the rumor, saying that it’s “news to him!” Original report below:

moffatSo. Jedi News reports of rumblings that Doctor Who and Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat has been offered a Star Wars film. They’re not sure if this is an Episode or standalone, but I’d guess at the latter.

Moffat is… highly controversial to say the least, particularly among female fans. But I do love his early Who (his/Matt Smith’s first full season is what hooked me on the show) and fairy-tale focus. Conflict! Of course, it’s just a rumor.

Episode VII rumors du jour: Matt Smith, Jason Flemyng

Matt Smith in Doctor Who The Matt Smith rumors are coming… Could he be the first (former) Time Lord to enter the GFFA? Bleeding Cool reports that the departing Doctor “went in for a role” in Episode VII.

I love Matt Smith and his run on Doctor Who, but would having him show up in Star Wars so soon after his turn as the lead in another iconic sci-fi franchise be a bit too on the nose? In any case, it’s only a report of an audition.

Another name knocking around at the moment – and a bit more solidly than Smith, assuming this isn’t another Funny or Die prank – is Jason Flemyng, who shared some script pages on Instagram. (Since removed, like that’ll help keep things under wrap.) Last time we heard from him he was saying that Matthew Vaughn was the Episode VII director though, so… Pass the salt.
