Rocks fall, everybody dies, only to rise again as zombies. Only to be slaughtered by Mandalorians. But then Jacen wakes up — and realizes that he (she) is really Jaina, and the whole thing was a dream.

I chose it was all a dream, because I think that’s what most fans hope LOTF will turn out to be….However, I also hoped the same thing for NJO, and look how that turned out – Chewie and Anakin were still dead, and a load of planets were still butchered. Because of this, I try not to take LOTF seriously, as its my least favourite of all the Star Wars series.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t read the other series that make up the EU yet, but I don’t mind this one. It takes guts for any author to kill off a major or popular character, and they’ve done it four times now if we consider that Jacen is irredeemable.
And the deaths aren’t random, they have a purpose to further the plot and characterizations of those alive. I hope Jaina ends up having an expanded role and not getting ‘abducted’ or ‘captured’ when it comes time for her to face her brother. That’s the one thing that annoys me, that the female parties don’t get a chance to shine much before they’re kidnapped or jailed and tortured and the males swoop in out of their ‘caves’ to save the damsels.
