You may not have noticed, but we’ve been having some WordPress issues over the last few days that have caused vanishing posts and comments. The good news: We’re working on fixing it, and taking it slow to make sure things are done properly.
For the time being, I’ve been posting Star Wars news and links to Tumblr (see the news tag) and Twitter.
You’ll notice some other site changes as well, like the new template. All just a part of the troubleshooting process!
However, you’ll note we’re missing a good chunk of posts from January, February and March. (Considering we have nearly ten years of posts, two months worth isn’t really that bad.) I do have copies, and those posts will be restored once I’m sure the database is sound. The bad news? Those of you who follow us via the RSS feeds (Feedly, Livejournal, etc.) will likely be seeing duplicates of those post appear at some point soon, and some links may be broken in the process.
In any case, thank you for your patience.
Would it be possible to put a comment like “RESTORED: …” in the title of the restored post in the rss feed? That would make it easier for us rss users to mark them as read fast.
Always look on the bright side of bugs: It’s a feature that is giving us a second chance to experience some of the older news stories. Only now, we’re two months smarter and can appreciate them with all our newfound wisdom. :-)
Anyway: Hang in there! :-)
That’s a good idea, Karl: I can always remove those later. (And I’m not reposting everything: We don’t really need all the ‘out this week’ and Rebels LEGO stuff at this point.)
I’m not in a hurry to do it this time, either, just in case things go buggy again. If I repost anything today it’ll be the book review and it’ll be on Tumblr.
Aaron: Very optimistic of you!
Whoa, you changed the formatting. Was not expecting that.
And removed the fanfiction.
It’s just a new template. I’m still not quite sure what’s causing the database issues, and I doubt it was the template, but I went to the simplest of the WordPress defaults just in case. I doubt I’ll return to the old one, since I’ve been planning to change it anyway. In any case, this one is just a stopgap.
The fanfic didn’t go anywhere (it’s completely separate from the stuff that’s caused our current issues) I just forgot to put it back in the site header.
Random question with no relevance to anything…
Why is there a picture of Gollum in your fanfiction header?
It was our anniversary banner from 2005, LOTR is/was one of our other interests… Thus Cordelia (Buffy/Angel,) Sirius Black (Harry Potter,) the Lone Gunman (X-Files,) and Gollum. And they were all dead. I’m not sure why I picked Gollum, it was so long ago.
It made more sense on the main site, really.
Why not Gollum? Gollum is always relevant, my preciousss.
