Willow, Lucasfilm’s 1988 fantasy film starring Warwick Davis, could get revived on Disney+, per Variety and director Ron Howard.
Howard and writer Jon Kasdan – who recently worked together on Solo – are in negotiations with Disney for a sequel series, the trade reports. Howard told MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that “really serious discussions” were on for a continuation and that Davis would return.
The film also starred Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley and Jean Marsh.
This wouldn’t be the first attempt at Willow sequels – back when the Expanded Universe was young, Lucasfilm published a trilogy of novels written by Chris Claremont. They were… Not particularly well received at the time.
Meanwhile, the original Willow seems likely to show up on Disney+ when it launches on November.
