Star Wars out this week: Women of the Galaxy

Halloween week brings one new book, one paperback reprint, and two comics. Out on Tuesday, October 30 is Women of the Galaxy by Amy Ratcliffe and many, many artists. (You can preview some of the art here, here and here.) It’s also a chance for fans to pick up the paperback of Daniel José Older’s Last Shot, the Han and Lando novel that first came out ahead of Solo in the spring.

Coming on the comic front Wednesday, October 31 are Tales from Darth Vader’s Castle #5 and Star Wars Adventures #15.

NYCC: Cover for Gray’s Master & Apprentice, new Freed novel on tap

There were only a handful of Star Wars fiction reveals at NYCC this afternoon, but they’re pretty sizable ones! We get the final cover for Claudia Gray’s Master & Apprentice. The art is by Alice X. Zhang. We also have a brand-new book announcement: Alphabet Squadron, by Alexander M. Freed, will feature “Rebel pilots hunting down Imperials,” apparently set post-ROTJ. Master & Apprentice is due in April, and StarWars.com says that Alphabet Squadron is due in June.

Upcoming Star Wars fiction leans into the prequel era

The extended gap between movies sees Star Wars publishing reaching back to the prequel era for their most high profile SDCC announcements. Coming from Del Rey we have Master and Apprentice, a Qui-gon and Obi-wan novel from Claudia Gray (Bloodline, Princess of Alderaan). And from Disney-Lucasfilm press there’s the long-rumored Padme novel, Queen’s Shadow by E.K. Johnston (Ahsoka).

The Padme cover is by Tara Phillips, who editor Jen Heddle says she “found on Deviant Art.” Both books will be out in early 2019 and up for pre-order soon: Master and Apprentice in February, and Queen’s Shadow in March.
