My first inkling of this was a tweet from Lucasfilm’s Leland Chee (@HolocronKeeper,) who also confirmed that a (licensed) lightsaber Wii remote will soon be available. Okay, so the Wii thing is old news, but my memory isn’t what it used to be… At least not for game peripherals.
The long awaited Indiana Jones video game, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings has a little more unearthed this week, with this video featurette on starwars.com with the developers showing how using your Wiimote will do all the things Indy does – punching, flying, shooting, swatting creepy crawlies and cracking that whip. So how will that translate for the non-Wii versions (PS2, PSP, DS)?
Buck up, kids: For once it’s not about KOTOR! No, a gaming magazine is claiming that LucasArts has licensed out the old Rogue Squadron games to be recombobulated (“visuals and control schemes”) and released as a three-pack for the Wii. Yay?

If you’ve been dying to hear more about The Clone Wars game (or just a The Clone Wars game) it’s your lucky day: IGN has an interview with LucasArts’ Feargus Carroll, and we learn the game’s name (The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance) and that it’s a Nintendo DS (handheld) exclusive. And it involves Nightsisters. And Dooku.
But! There are two, and the other one is just The Clone Wars and for the Wii. Looks like just a basic dueler… Yes kids, you’re finally getting your Wii lightsaber game. Hoorah.
IGN has unearthed a shocking – SHOCKING – advertisement for a Clone Wars game for the Wii and Nintendo DS in the instruction booklet for LEGO Indiana Jones. Expect to learn more at CloneWarsGame.com eventually.

According to IGN’s Gerry Block, the company has had direct information that Nintendo will not allow the licensing of any bat like attachments for the Wiimote such as a lightsaber due to safety concerns. So therefore, Lucas Arts will not be able to release its own Official lightsaber add-on for the forthcoming Star Wars game.
That’s harsh, man. Harsh. Think of the poor children who now be forced to play with their toy lightsabers outside!
Jedi wannabes can now get a Wii ‘light sword’ accessory. (via)
