Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 16
Here’s the week in review for #WearStarWarsEveryDay! No new donations to Collateral Repair Project this week, but I celebrated the Star Wars Dark Side Half and then kicked off my run of Star Wars Celebration wear as it was the anniversary of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim! Some of that Celebration apparel, two shirts and a hat, was donated by Kristen! This review for Week 16 covers April 15 to April 21 of my wearathon, and an update on fundraising for Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support to urban refugees.
How long will my Celebration streak last? Will I make it to April 30, the day that the first Celebration started in 1999? If you have a favorite clothing item from Celebration that you want to let me borrow, better send it quick! Also, I want to turn May into a showcase of Star Wars fandom, highlighting different fan efforts such as websites, podcasts, costume clubs, collecting clubs, artwork, etc. So if you’ve got something cool to donate or lend, like a club shirt, hat or costume item, send it on over, and I’ll promote your fandomness. Get the shipping info here.
In pledge news, my push to increase the per-day total pledge is still at $4.15/day, but there’s also another way to support my continued effort – you can sign up for monthly giving on the GoFundMe! In week 15, an anonymous donor has started with $10/month. This is like adding another $0.33 per day, and it is automatically set up, just as easy as making a one-time donation! So help me out, and make a per-day pledge!

Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 15
#WearStarWarsEveryDay has now completed 15 weeks! In this update on my charity fundraising project, I cover Day 100! We had two one-time donations this week (Abdul and Anonymous), putting the GoFundMe up over $1,100! Plus, this week most of the clothes I wore were lent by three people: MediocreJedi, Margaret, and Christian. Plus I announce the winner of the prize drawing for the Poe Dameron cover version of Star Wars Insider #146! Is it you? This review for Week 15 covers April 8 to April 14 of my wearathon, and an update on fundraising for Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support to urban refugees.
Going into week 16, I’ve started a run of Celebration apparel, in honor of the one-year anniversary of Celebration Anaheim, so if you have a favorite clothing item from Celebration that you want to let me borrow, better send it quick! I’m also planning to turn the month of May into a streak of fan clothes, highlighting different fan efforts such as websites, podcasts, costume clubs, collecting clubs, artwork, etc. So if you’ve got something cool to donate or lend, send it on over, and I’ll promote your fandomness. Video: Unboxing Star Wars: Rebels finale ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’, Character Encyclopedia
We’ve got a new episode of Unboxing Star Wars! Yowie and I hit the road for the Star Wars Rebels finale screening at Walt Disney Studios and we review ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’. I also check out Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded by Pablo Hidalgo and Simon Beecroft, from DK. Plus I give a quick review of the first issue of the Poe Dameron comic, while Baby Jawa plays with a new R2-D2 toy and we check out some of the new Star Wars stuff we’ve picked up. And at the end, some Baby Jawa fun time!
Quick reviews
→ Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded – Great for everone! Have fun learning tidbits about more than 200 characters and creatures from all the Star Wars films! (and watch for my interview with author Pablo Hidalgo on starwars.com early next week)
→ ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’ – Big thumbs up! When Rebels has a season finale, they pull out all the stops and unload a whole boatload of awesome. (Also, if you haven’t seen it already, I have the entire Q&A from the screening available to watch.)
→ Poe Dameron #1 – A promising start! I think I’m more interested in who Lor San Tekka is than about Poe on his tail but we’ll see where it goes. Plus BB-8!

Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 14
The first week of April puts #WearStarWarsEveryDay all the way up to Day 99! We had three one-time donations this week (Rachel, Joel, and Anonymous), putting the GoFundMe up over $1,050! Plus, this week most of the clothes I wore were lent or donated by three people: Patty, Kristen, and MediocreJedi. Thank you so much for this boost to kick off April! This update for Week 14 covers April 1 to April 7 of my wearathon, and an update on fundraising for Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support to urban refugees.
The prize drawing for the Poe Dameron Star Wars Insider is still open! Donate and you could win a copy of the subscriber-exclusive version of Star Wars Insider #164, with Poe Dameron on the cover. An anonymous friend has offered this magazine to one lucky random person who donates to the GoFundMe from April 1 to April 15. So make a donation today!
I’m also still looking to increase the per-day total pledge. With your help, it has risen to $4.15/day but I’d still like to get it up to $5. So help me out, and make a per-day pledge! If you sign up for a pledge before April 15, I will let you start your donation at April 1, instead of going all the way back to January 1, when I started this effort. So please, please, please, help Collateral Repair Project out!

Daisy Ridley on Rogue One, Rey’s parentage, and Episode VIII
Talking to MTV Saturday, Daisy Ridley addressed those ‘Jyn is Rey’s mom’ theories and confirms she does know Rey’s real parentage – but says that she really doesn’t think it’s that big a deal. She also plays coy on if Rey is (becoming?) a Jedi, though, so… Business as usual.
P.S. Pablo has also flat-out denied the Rey = Jyn thing.
Video: Teaser trailer for Rogue One
It’s here! And you’ll see a few familiar things…
Entertainment Weekly has a gallery with a closer look at the trailer imagery, including that ‘Jyn Erso’ is the proper spelling of Felicity Jones’ character’s name, and that is indeed Genevieve O’Reilly (from the Revenge of the Sith cut scenes) reprising Mon Mothma. io9 has a good breakdown, too.
Video: Rogue One teaser to debut on GMA Thursday
The first teaser for Rogue One is premiering on Good Morning America tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s a teaser for the teaser, because this is how we live now.
This weekend in The Force Awakens: Kylo’s parental issues
While everyone spent the weekend watching the movie, except those of us actually bothering to wait for the Blu-ray… (WHY.) Here’s another clip from ‘Secrets of The Force Awakens featuring Adam Driver and J.J. Abrams on Kylo Ren and his relationship with his parents.
→ There’s now an official 3D video of the Millennium Falcon cockpit.
→ Neal Scanlan talks creatures (and Maz Kanata) with IGN.
→ io9 lists “new” things learned from The Force Awakens extras.
→ Rebelscum has a picture of a rather impressive display for Tuesday’s Blu-ray display at a Toys R Us Walmart.
