Is Vector starting with a whimper or a bang?

Dante Maddox of Crave reviews Knights of the Old Republic #25. Words of wisdom:

At no point have I ever looked at the expanded universe and thought, “What a mess!”

Clearly, a man who has never visited the TFN boards. More power to him: I’m not sure how many EU fans even realize how good we have it, even with the occasional gaffe.

As for Vector… I’ve never picked up KOTOR before, but I was not impressed by the issue. Maybe I’ll warm up to it as the story progresses (it took me about ten issues into Legacy to see it as anything more than fanboy wish-fulfillment) but for now, my verdict: Whimper. That’s not to say it might not pan out in the end, but for now, I remain skeptical.

Is anyone else jumping into KOTOR cold? Or, old-time readers… What do you think?

io9 takes EU baby-steps with Vector

It appears that they got an early look at part 1 of Vector (which may or may not be coming out on Wednesday; we’ll let you know at 5pm.) Their review isn’t too detailed beyond what we’ve seen from the preview, but the description of Mandalorians as “zombie-like aliens” did get a bit of a chuckle from me.

As Vector approaches…

Comic Book Resources talks to John Jackson Miller about Vector, Knights of the Old Republic and even Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. (He penned the comic adaption.)

The images in the article are the same ones we saw on the MySpace preview, which also went up as the standard Knights of the Old Republic #25 preview a few days ago.

Get on track with Vector

Newsarama has been catching up with the Dark Horse folks to talk about the upcoming crossover Vector. First up, editor Randy Stradley (and a peek at another cover) and then creators John Jackson Miller, John Ostrander and Jan Duursema. Interesting factoid: They’ve been laying the groundwork for the crossover for a while now. Intrigue!

Dark Horse announces Vector

Newsarama reports from the Diamond Retailer Summit in Baltimore:

2008 will see Star Wars: Vector, a crossover story that will be “similar to Civil War in its scope and style,” according to Dark Horse’s Jeremy Atkins. One constant character will experience the story as it travels through all four of Dark Horse’s Star Wars titles: Knights of the Old Republic, Rebellion, Legacy and Dark Times. John Ostrander and John Jackson Miller will oversee the story direction through the titles.

A multi-book crossover? I believe that’s a first for the Star Wars comics.

As one might expect, the TFN fanboys have already got their whine on, but John Ostrander promises no flow-walking. This ought to be interesting…
