Welcome to a new feature! As fannish pros and fans alike are so active on Twitter, I thought we’d expose our readers to a little bit of what goes on there. This week: Some tidbits on The Essential Guide to Warfare, a few Fate of the Jedi snarks, and, of course, #ZahnSolo!
Be sure to make it out to your local comic shop on Wednesday, as Dawn Of The Jedi: Force Storm #2 will hitting the shelves. Also on the list are two new trades: The Old Republic: The Lost Suns and an Other Sons of Tatooine omnibus, featuring such luminaries as Biggs Darklighter, Janek “Tank” Sunber and… BoShek. Alrighty then.
In other news, Del Rey’s Star Wars team now has a dedicated twitter account, @DelReyStarWars.
Join in on what is sure to be chaos when StarWars.com hosts a virtual podrace on Twitter.
The racers will be Star Wars celebrities of actor and fandom ilk, alike. And you can play along by Tweeting as a character-not-racing. Think of it as a live-action roleplaying game in 140-character bits. (If only you could limit some real-life LARPers to 140 characters!)
The action will kick off at 11am Pacific, 2pm Eastern. Just follow the hashtag #podrace.
At least you don’t have to worry about having to rebuild your podracer when it’s over.
With Knights of the Old Republic returning to comics with War starting tomorrow, Dark Horse had writer John Jackson Miller take questions via Twitter today. We sum it up so you don’t have to try to read answers before the questions on Miller’s twitter (catch it all on #KOTORWarChat). War was intentionally made as a good starting point into the era, so while there’s Easter egg type connections to the previous fifty-issue run of the KOTOR comics, reading the earlier works is not necessary to understanding the story. And it’s Sith-free!

It was a big year for Star Wars: The movies got another overhaul as the long-awaited complete saga set finally appeared with the Blu-rays, Star Tours finally came out of the 80’s with a major upgrade, and the franchises’ most-hyped video game ever actually arrived. And the fans did some pretty cool stuff, too! Onward!

Samuel L. Jackson – aka Mace Windu, Nick Fury, Jules Winnfield and a host of other iconic characters – has joined Twitter as (what else?) @SamuelLJackson. Yes, the account is verified, so it looks like the real thing. With The Avengers gearing up, I’m sure he won’t run out of things to say.

A familiar face joins HBO’s Game of Thrones. Julian Glover, who you’ll remember as General Veers from Empire Strikes Back and Walter Donovan from his face-melting turn in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, has joined the cast of HBO’s adaption as Grand Maester Pycelle. He replaces Roy Dotrice, who had to step out for health reasons.

Airbender successor series won’t be ongoing. UGO snatched some time with co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko at SDCC to bend a few new details on the upcoming Legend of Korra. Chief among them: It’s mini-series. But that does mean that DiMartino and Konietzko are writing each episode. This has done very little to temper my excitement. Maybe because I keep running into stuff like this.
